On the afternoon of November 16, 2023, IMU held the symposium on the research of the culture in northern borderland of China. Liu Zhiyu, secretary of IMU CPC Committee, was present at and addressed the symposium. Also present at the symposium were Li Chunlin, specially invited expert, former president of Inner Mongolia Academy of Social Sciences and research fellow with IMU Research Center of Chinese Nation, Prof. Zhang Jiuhe with the College of History and Tourism Culture of IMU, the vice president of IMU Academy of Culture in Northern Borderland(IMUACNB) and members of IMUACNB council. The symposium was chaired by Du Fenglian, vice president of IMU and president of IMUACNB.
Symposium
Research Fellow Li Chunlin and Prof. Zhang Jiuhe introduced the background and significance of the research of the culture in northern borderland of China in their addresses to the symposium, summarized the framework and basis for the present studies and analyzed the orientation and key parts of the future research.
Centering around the theoretical and practical problems in the research of the culture in northern borderland of China, other attendees successively addressed the symposium for discussion. They include Mi Yanqing, dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Journalism of IMU, Wu Yingzhe, dean of the School of Mongolian Studies of IMU, Li Defeng, dean of the College of History and Tourism Culture of IMU, Jing Jianfeng, dean of the School of Philosophy of IMU, Liu Jinyu, deputy dean of the Foreign Languages College of IMU, Xue Jiliang, deputy dean of the School of Economics and Management of IMU, Ding Peng, dean of the Law School of IMU, An Hua, deputy dean of the School of Public Management of IMU, Fu Suogen, deputy dean of the School of Marxism of IMU, Cui Sipeng, deputy director of IMU Research Center of Chinese Nation, Zhang Zhizhong, director of the Editorial Board of Journal of Inner Mongolia University and Jiang Dejun, chief of Inner Mongolia University Press.
Liu Zhiyu stressed in his concluding remarks that the establishment of IMUACNB is a specific action taken by IMU to study and implement Xi Jinping’s thought on culture and put into practice the spirit of the 6th Plenary Session of the CPC Committee of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Liu said that to deepen the cultural studies, reinforce the cultural self-consciousness, courageously assume the cultural missions, inherit and develop the fine culture of Chinese nation and assist in the formation of the brand of the culture in northern borderland IMU should further improve its understanding, further gather its forces, advance its work further and pour more energy into the cultural “integration, inheritance, innovation and transformation”. Liu also pointed out that IMU should take its actions in forging the brand of culture in northern borderland of China, offer its wisdom in strengthening the studies of theories of the culture in northern borderland of China and make its contributions in the service and transformation of the culture in northern borderland. At the symposium, the subsequent studies of the culture in the northern borderland of China were also arranged.
