National Ethnic Affairs Commission delegation visits IMU

A delegation from the Department of Education of the National Ethnic Affairs Commission on Dec 12 visited and conducted research at Inner Mongolia University (IMU) in Hohhot, capital of North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, IMU officials said.

Led by Tian Liangang, general director of the Department of Education of the National Ethnic Affairs Commission, the delegation participated in a symposium with IMU officials.

At the symposium, the delegation listened to a report of Zhang Jiwei, vice president of IMU, on the overall situation regarding the university’s ethnic education and the development and construction of Mongolian studies-related disciplines.

The report also looked at the enrollment, training, ideological and political education and employment of students from ethnic minority groups, the education for a sense of community with the Chinese nation and the inheritance of Chinese traditional culture.

The delegation also had in-depth exchanges on the contents of the report with the IMU attendees.

At the close of the event, the delegation fully affirmed the work of ethnic education in IMU and put forward valuable opinions and suggestions.
