College of Electronic Information Engineering

College of Electronic Information Engineering, founded in March 2008, originated from Department of Electronic Engineering and Department of Automation from the previous Institute of Science and Technology. Its predecessor was Department of Electronics founded in 1979, which was renamed Department of Electronic Engineering in 1994, from which Department of Automation was separated.

There are 3 undergraduate majors: Electronic Information Science and Technology(1962), Automation(1994) and Communication Engineering(1994), which are all Brand Majors in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Signal and Information Processing is the discipline accorded the top priority at the regional level . There are 1 Master Program in Information and Communication Engineering(Level-1), which is also the discipline given the top priority, 1 Master Program in Pattern Recognition and Intelligent System(Level-2) and 2 Professional Master(Engineering Master) Programs in Electronic and Engineering Communications and Control Engineering.

Moreover, the college has 1 project center of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region: Electronic Engineering Technology Research Center, and 1 Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region: Experimental Teaching Center of Electronic Information Technology. After three consecutive phases of construction under “211 Project”, Special Laboratory Projects funded by the central and local governments and Project of Enhancing Comprehensive Strength of Universities and Colleges in the Central and Western Regions, the college has further improved its facilities with more instruments and equipment. The experimental teaching instruments have reached the advanced level in China, providing sufficient conditions for students to carry out innovative practice.

There are six Excellent Courses at the regional level, 1 bilingual teaching course at the university level, six experimental courses taught by the mode of teaching reform at the university level, and 4 experimental courses taught by the mode of teaching reform at the college level. With the continuous progress of curriculum reform, in the new round of revising talents training program, the college has further increased the credit hours of practice and training courses to create better conditions to cultivate applied talents.

Since the founding of the college, more than 50 provincial or ministerial fund projects and all kinds of horizontal projects have been approved. The total amount of the fund is more than RMB 6 million Yuan, including 11 National Natural Science Fund with a total amount of more than RMB 3 million Yuan. At present, more than 20 provincial and ministerial fund projects are undertaken, and the total amount of funding is over RMB 2 million Yuan. More than 300 academic papers have been published, including more than 10 papers indexed by SCI and more than 220 papers indexed by EI and ISTP, and more than 40 monographs, translated books and textbooks were published. Over 10 invention patents and utility models were patented, and the college won more than 10 awards for teaching and research achievements at the provincial and ministerial level.

There are 47 faculty members, including 43 full-time teaching and researching staff, including 9 professors and 19 associate professors, 12 teachers with doctoral degree, 1 doctorate supervisor, and 19 master supervisors.

At present, there are 180 full-time postgraduate students, 118 in-service engineering master students, and 842 undergraduates. In recent years, the college has held scientific and technological innovation activities actively and organized  students to participate in various scientific and technological competitions organized by the state and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region many times. The students have achieved excellent results in the national “Challenge Cup”, the “Freescale” Cup for the smart car race, Robocon Contest and other competitions.

There is a total of number of 6,500 graduates at home and abroad who are mainly engaged in research and development of science and technology, production and operation of information industry, national defense construction, education and other related fields in and out of Inner Mongolia. Many graduates have become the backbones of mailing and telecommunications, radio and television, civil aviation and transportation, public security and frontier defense, finance and trade, education and scientific research and other industries and have been highly praised.

Information and communication technology, and automatic science and technology are rapidly-developing and widely-used high-tech technologies with a bright prospect. Combining with the social needs, College of Electronic Information Engineering will further strengthen the education for students’ innovative ability and practical application ability, reinforce the scientific research and the development of applied technology to constantly improve its ability to provide services for economic and social development of Inner Mongolia and China.
