On April 10-11, 2024, a delegation of five from the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany visited IMU. The delegation included Prof. Dieter Schramm, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Duisburg-Essen University, Dr. Frédéric Kracht, Head of the Department of Mechatronics, and He Linfu, Li Xiaolong, Erdenef, the University of Duisburg-Essen’s China Office.
On April 10th, both parties held talks in No.6 Meeting Room of the Academic Conference Center at IMU Saihan Campus. The meeting was attended by IMU Vice President Da Hu Bai Yi La, Dean of the College of Electronic Information Engineering Wang Shubin, Deputy Director of the Office for International Cooperation and Exchanges Duan Manfu, Prof. Cao Xueyan from the College of Electronic Information Engineering, Director of the Academic Affairs and Research Office Wu Huijuan, and Hong Mei from the Office for International Cooperation and Exchanges. Deputy Director Duan Manfu chaired the meeting.
Da Hu Bai Yi La delivered a welcome speech and introduced an overview of IMU. He pointed out that IMU has formulated a discipline development approach of "building peaks of excellence, revitalizing science, enhancing arts and humanities, expanding engineering, and broadening interdisciplinary studies." Germany is renowned for its engineering specialties, and over the past few years, IMU has prioritized expanding cooperation with German universities as an important initiative for developing engineering, and IMU has maintained close contact with the University of Duisburg-Essen carried out various forms of cooperative exchange activities. It is hoped that through the visit of Dean Schramm and his delegation, we can further promote cooperation and exchanges between the two sides, consolidate existing cooperation projects, and further expand new areas of cooperation.
Dean Schramm introduced University of Duisburg-Essen and its Faculty of Engineering. Both sides discussed specific cooperation and exchange projects to be carried out in the future and signed the signed an agreement for a summer research program between the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Duisburg-Essen and IMU. A ceremony was also held to inaugurate the Mercator Testing Center established by the University of Duisburg-Essen at IMU.
After the meeting, Prof. Schramm gave an academic lecture on robotics to the faculty and students of the College of Electronic Information Engineering.
On April 11th, Prof. Schramm and his delegation visited Transportation Institute of IMU. Both parties held a symposium on the existing undergraduate dual degree, master's joint training, and summer research study programs.
Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Dean of the Transportation Institute Bai Tuoya, Director of the Research Office, Zhang Hong, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering Zhang Wanxiang, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Li Chunfu, Director of the Comprehensive Office of the Research Office Yan Zhenying, teachers Yuan Wenting and Zhang Yongquan from the Department of Civil Engineering, and teachers Zhang Lu and Wang Chenxiang from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, along with Hong Mei from the Office for International Cooperation and Exchanges attended the meeting.
After the meeting, Dean Schramm gave a presentation to the students from mechanical, automotive, and civil engineering majors at IMU’s Transportation Institute, and he engaged in interactive exchanges with the faculty and students.
