S. David Jackson, Professor of University of Glasgow, Visited the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of our University

  From March 14th to 17th, professor of Chemistry of University of Glasgow, S. David Jackson was invited to visit our School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.

On the morning of March 15th, College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, held a forum on cooperation and communication issues between the two schools in talks with Professor S. David Jackson. The two sides introduced respectively the research situation, and discussed the issues such as the cooperation and communication between two colleges, the cooperative establishment of a joint catalytic research center, flexible introduction and so on.  Eventually the two sides reached the deep cooperation intentions of operate project cooperation and exchange visiting in the future.

    In view of Professor S. David Jackson’s academic achievement and influence in the field of chemical catalysis, our school decided to appoint S. David Jackson for our visiting professor. The ceremony of appointment of Professor S. David Jackson served as a visiting professor was held in our school in the afternoon of March 15th. Vice President Zhao Ji attended the appointment ceremony and issued a letter of appointment to professor Jackson S. David. The ceremony was presided over by Professor Zhang Jun, Dean of the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. Zhao Yong, director of the office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Yang Junfeng, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Institute, vice president Zhang Hao, vice president Chen Shufeng, and vice president Bai Fenghua, and representatives of the college, attended the appointment ceremony. Professor S. David Jackson accepted the appointment with pleasure and said he would fulfill the responsibilities of a visiting professor and make his contribution to the development of chemistry in the Inner Mongolia University.

    

After the appointment ceremony, Professor S. David Jackson delivered two academic reports in the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering "Tao Li Academic Forum", which named “Conversion of Lignin into Functionalised Alkylphenols over Heterogeneous Catalysts” and “Steam Reforming for Hydrogen Production: From Hydrocarbons to Alcohols”. The reports were chaired by Professor Zhu Haibin, assistant of the dean of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. The reports attracted more than 100 teachers and graduate students from Inner Mongolia University of Technology and our school.
