On the afternoon of March 3rd, the celebration of International Women's Day and the symposium of commendation “five-virtue family” (outstanding in such five aspects as law-abiding, diligent study, family planning, domestic harmony, and industrious and thrifty management of the household) and hardworking female teachers within the period 2015-2017 were held at IMU. Thirty-five families and thirty-six female teachers received commendation.
Zhu Bingwen, the Party secretary of IMU, attended the symposium and delivered a speech.
Zhu pointed out that female teachers have assumed the role of masters of IMU to play an active part in the construction, development and reform during the course of IMU’s growth. He also stressed that female teachers have made great contributions to IMU and they have hold up “half the sky”.
At the end of the symposium, Zhu brought up three expectations. First, female teachers should dare to take the lead and continue to dedicate to IMU’s goal of building “double first-class” university (a new impetus for the development of higher education sector). Second, female teachers should continue to carry forward Chinese traditional virtues (such as respecting the elderly and loving children and living in marital harmony), and to play a significant role in building a harmonious campus. Third, Women's Committee and Labor Unions should fully understand their missions and perform duties. Besides, Party organizations from all levels should respect, care for and uphold female faculty members and provide a better platform for them.
Liu Yinliang, the president of IMU Labor Union, hosted the symposium. Song Wei, the vice president of IMU Labor Union, announced the recognition decision.
Xing Na, a female teacher of Law School at IMU as well as the representative of “five virtue” families, and Cui Xin, a female teacher of School of Physical Science and Technology at IMU, the representative of excellent female teachers, both made a speech in the symposium.
