The conference about ideological and political work among colleges in the autonomous region was held in Hohhot on February 10th. Li Jiheng, the secretary of CPC Inner Mongolia Committee, attended the conference and made an important speech. Attendees at the conference included leading officials of relevant departments in all leagues, cities and in Manchuria, Erlianhaote; leaders from regional offices, departments, units and persons belonged to the central unit; the secretaries of the party committee and presidents from both public and private colleges. Zhu Bingwen,  party secretary, and Chen Guoqing,the deputy party secretary and president of IMU attended the conference.

Li Jia, the Vice Secretary of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Secretary of the Political and Judiciary Commission, hosted the plenary session in the forenoon and delivered concluding remarks. As the Standing Committee Member of CPC Committee and Propaganda Minister, Bai Yugang hosted the meeting in the afternoon. Regional leaders who attended the meeting included Zeng Yichun, Liu Qifan, Luo Yonggang, Wu Tuanying, Bai Xiangqun, Wang Zhonghe, and Wang Huancheng.

In his speech Li Jiheng pointed out that ideological and political work is the lifeline of economic and other work. Enforcing and improving ideological and political work in colleges is a major political task and strategic project. Party committees at all levels, governments, colleges and relevant departments should realize the importance and urgency of enforcing and improving the work, reinforce sense of responsibility and mission to make it done solidly and effectively. University development must take Marxism as its guidance, carry out the educational policy of the party, place correct political direction and value orientation throughout running schools and educating the talented persons in all directions and overall process. We should insistently spread Marxist theories, voicing the melody of Marxism. The socialist core values must be constantly cultivated and carried forward to make colleges into a great furnace to forge outstanding young people. The harmony and stability of colleges must be promoted, turned into models for stability and unity. The climate and ecological environment for study should be provided by unremittingly cultivating school spirit and learning style.

He emphasized that ideological work was basically the work of dealing with people’ ideology. We should positively adapt to the new changes and demands in terms of time and practical development, actively respond to the new concerns and needs of all teachers and students, focus more on key areas and problems for comprehensively promoting the ideological and political level and the ability of colleges. Efforts can be put in improving ideological and political quality and seeking practical results in order to guide students surveying general situation and main stream, pondering what is on-pitch and off, sailing for drams, bravely taking responsibilities and struggling diligently. In this way, outstanding young people would be cultivated with ideals, responsibility, obligations, and shoulder historical mission. Efforts are also in building up the ranks of teachers and improving effectiveness, leading teachers to live study and teach morally, strengthening the construction of ideology and political work team, thus teaching staff with faith, morality, knowledge and benevolence will be achieved. Efforts and practical results embodied in reform and innovation involves class construction in dealing with ideological and political theories, subject construction of philosophy and social sciences, pushing forward civilized campus and supplementary class, better making use of new media and technology to enhance the sense of time and effectiveness. Enhancing the leadership of the party is the fundamental guarantee of university's ideological and political work. By further implementing the party's spirit of the sixth plenary session of the 18th Central Committee of the CPC, perfecting coordination mechanism, intensifying entity responsibility, fortifying foundations, reinforcing the support and firmly hold the leadership can colleges be turned into the stable bases that adherence to the party ' s leadership.

Members from Party committee of IMU, Baotou Municipal, Tongliao Municipal, Inner Mongolia Agricultural University and Inner Mongolia Technical College of Architecture exchanged their experience respectively on the ideological and political work.
