General Theory of the Poetry of the Yuan Dynasty is one of the masterpieces of Mr. Zha Hongde, which was selected into the National Achievements Library of Philosophy and Social Sciences in 2013, published by Peking University Press in 2014, and awarded the 2nd Prize at the 8th Achievements of Institutes of Higher Learning in Humanities and Social Sciences in 2019. The book is the first attempt to fully summarize and explore the value of the poetry of the Yuan dynasty, which serves to make up the missing link of the poetry of the Yuan dynasty in the history of Chinese poetry and helps bring out a more complete overview of the studies of the literature of the Yuan dynasty. In his annual academic summary in China Social Sciences Today, Prof. Wu Guangzheng not only refers to the book as an important achievement in the study of Chinese ancient literature in the year 2014, but also points out that the publication of General Theory of the Poetry of the Yuan Dynasty updates peoples understanding of the literature of the Yuan dynasty. The book recreates the living conditions of the literati, the literary creation context, the literary creation style and the literary creation concepts of the Yuan dynasty based on literary collections, especially forewords to poems in the literary collections of the Yuan dynasty, disproves much of the false comment imposed on the literature of the Yuan dynasty, and contributes significantly to returning to the tradition and building national poetics.
