National-level innovation center to be built in IMU

A national-level collaborative innovation center focusing on the region’s grassland ecology will be built at Inner Mongolia University in Hohhot, capital of North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

That’s according to a recent report published on the official IMU website.

The center will mainly focus on North China’s important ecological protection barriers and issues concerning advanced ecological and environmental disciplines.

In addition, the center will study the restoration of degraded grassland and green grassland husbandry, comprehensive management of river and lake water ecology in the grassland area.

It will also look into ecological restoration and pollution controls of grassland industrial and mining areas and big data of the grassland ecological environment.

Also in focus will be management decision support to solve major ecological and environmental problems -- such as land degradation, deterioration of rivers and lakes and environmental damage in industrial and mining areas.

The new facility will rely on IMU’s College of Ecology and Environment, officials said.

The new center will aim to integrate the relevant resources of the IMU’s School of Life Sciences, College of Computer Science, School of Mathematical Sciences and College of Transportation.

It will also collaborate with leading universities, scientific research institutions and enterprises in China.
