Recently, the Ministry of Education has issued the certificates of the Awards for the Excellent Research Achievements of the Institutions of Higher Learning(Science and Technology)(AERAIHL). Two research teams of IMU won the AERAIHL for the projects they lead. One project is “The Innovation and Application of the Key Technologies on the Breeding and Sex-Controlled Reproduction of the Breeding Bulls for Cows”, which is led by the research team of Prof. Li Xihe who is with the School of Life Sciences of IMU. The other is “The Application of the Key Technologies on Mongolian Artificial Intelligent Cloud Service latform”, which is led by the research team of Prof. Feilong who is with the College of Computer Science(Software College). Two teams won AERAIHL respectively-the second prize for scientific and technological achievements.
In recent years, IMU has implemented the spirit of the instructions of Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, when he inspected the university, in its scientific and technological innovation and conducted the organized scientific and technological research closely centering on “Five Missions” of Inner Mongolia.
Based on the national “Seed-Industry-Boosting ” strategy and aiming at such key bottleneck technological challenges as China’s excessive dependence of high-quality provenance of cows upon other countries, restriction of key technologies for cow’s reproduction performance testing and breeding and effective propagation of fine-breed cows, Prof. Li’s research team conducted a series of research in the innovation and application of such key technologies as breeding and sex-controlled reproduction of the breeding bulls for cows. The team has developed three generations of cow’s sex-controlled seminal fluid and such core technologies as effective production of sex-controlled embryo of cows, established the large-scale technological process of production and formed the new model for the popularization and innovation of products of the breeding industry of cows in which industry, colleges, research and application are integrated together. In 5174 ranches in key areas of large-scale cow farming in 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, Li’s team has totally applied and popularized 3197084 doses of three generations of cow’s sex-controlled seminal fluid, and 39397 sex-controlled embryos of cows to breed 1.6 million young fine-breed cows and increase a net income of 1.983 billion yuan, which is economically and socially important and has contributed to the country’s strategy of rural revitalization.

In its research, Prof. Feilong’s research team has fully implemented the country’s “One Belt and One Road” Initiative to boost the national unity and progress and serve the cultural exchange between China and Mongolia. His team has conducted the systematic research on the key technologies for Mongolian artificial intelligent cloud service platform, proposed a series of innovative ways to process Mongolian intelligently and solved the technological problems in such aspectss as Mongolian speech recognition, Mongolian speech synthesis, Mongolian-Chinese translation and recognition and understanding of Mongolian words and formed the intelligent and systematic solutions for agglutinating languages of sparse resources, which fills the gap in intelligent processing of Mongolian and provides the important technological and theoretical basis for the technologies related to agglutinating languages of sparse resources. It is a significant leap of Mongolian language from the information era to artificial intelligence age and plays a very important role in maintaining national security and stability, boosting the cultural and social development in the ethnic minority areas and protecting and passing down the culture of ethnic minority groups.
