The Symposium on Multi-Lingual Support Technology for the Operating System of Linux takes place in Chengdu City

Hosted by IMU, Tibet University, Qinghai Normal University, Sichuan University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, National University of Defense Technology, Kylinsoft, Chengdu Connect Technology Co; Ltd. and organized by openKylin, the Symposium on Multi-Lingual Support Technology for the Operating System of Linux took place in Chengdu City on December 10, 2023.

Prof. Nima Tashi, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and member of the Advisory Council of openKylin, chaired the symposium. The experts present at the symposium had in-depth discussions about the current development, deficiencies and future plan of multi-lingual support technology for the operating system of Linux. They also discussed how the operating system can help the country to boost and serve the “One Belt and One Road ” Initiative.

Li Jianfeng, member of the Technology Committee of openKylin, reported to the experts the developments of the multi-lingual version of the operating system of openKylin and introduced the system’s issue, characteristics and platform architecture and future plan for the system. In the future, the operating system of openKylin will continue to expand its multi-lingual support including the support of foreign languages and languages of ethnic minority groups, further optimize multi-lingual architecture and develop multi-lingual support platforms which are in the lead at home and advanced internationally to improve the competitiveness of the core information technology of China.

Prof. Feilong with the College of Computer Science(College of Software ) of IMU chaired the discussions about the work of the Mongolian version of the desktop operating system of Galaxy Kylin. Associate Prof. Monghjaya shared and discussed the related experience on the development of Mongolian version of the operating system and the plan for the system’s future development and popularization. The experts present at the symposium had their discussions centering around the multi-lingual version of the operating system of Linux.

Nima Tashi, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, gave his concluding remarks to the symposium. He stressed that to improve the competitiveness of the basic software of China effective measures should be taken to make full use of the rich language resources of China, make active responses to the needs of the country and develop practical and user-friendly multilingual operating system to boost the technological innovation and development of China.
