The students who participated in the program in summer holiday said that they felt thankful to SEM for its provision of opportunities for them to study overseas. They thought that the program was very meaningful and what they got included not only abundant knowledge and international horizon but also insight into their future development and course arrangement. They hoped they could share with other students what they had seen, thought, felt and understood. At present, SEM is planning and organizing a special sharing of the students who had been to Oxford about the course study, interpersonal communication, language communication and cultural communication.

The studies at Oxford University by the undergraduate students of SEM in summer holiday is a step that SEM has taken in cultivating the internalized talents and the important exploration and practice for cultivating top-notch talents. On July 16, 2019, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, stressed when he inspected IMU that “You have to manage the university in an open manner, develop in competition and build IMU into a first-class university with distinctive characteristics.” The report of the 20th National Congress of the CPC stresses that the universities in China should adhere to the thought of “cultivating talents for the party and the country” and “bear in mind the country”. This demands that we have to take as political mission and responsibility the cultivation of the internationalized talents who keep in mind the country. SEM will bear in mind the mission, continue to explore the model for the cultivation of top-notch talents and spare no efforts to understand changes, respond to changes and seek reform to overcome difficulties. It will plan and coordinate resources to further provide powerful support to IMU’s “Double-First-Class” building in the light of requirements to build economics as the first-class discipline, cultivate top-notch talents and construct first-class undergraduate programs.
