Symposium on Chinese multi-ethnic proverbs held in Hohhot

An important academic symposium on Chinese multi-ethnic proverbs was held in Hohhot, capital of northern China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Nov 23-24, according to the organizers.

It aimed to promote the overall collation, research and inheritance of the traditional cultures of all ethnic groups of China.

Co-sponsored by Inner Mongolia University and the Inner Mongolia Language Society, the symposium attracted the participation of experts and academics from domestic universities and colleges and scientific research institutions.

According to IMU officials, the symposium covered seven topics related to research on Chinese multi-ethnic proverbs. In addition to inviting experts and academics to make reports, it also conducted special discussions in groups.

Experts say Chinese multi-ethnic proverbs are part of the nation’s precious intangible cultural heritage.

The symposium was seen as an opportunity to promote the in-depth study of Chinese multi-ethnic proverbs.

The organizers said it helped in the wider process of revealing the characteristics and rules of multi-ethnic exchanges and identifications.

They added that it would have important and have far-reaching significance for describing the history and current situation, as well as the progress of multi-ethnic cultural integration under the multi-ethnic integrated cultural patterns of the Chinese nation.
