The School of Continuing Education, founded in November 1995, is one of the first four colleges of Inner Mongolia University(IMU). It consists of the Section of Comprehensive Management, Section of Degree Education, Section of Non-Degree Education and Section of Quality Ensurance and Supervision.

Since the new era, the school has fully implemented the education policies of the Communist Party of China(CPC), kept the socialist nature of its education, put into practice the fundamental task of cultivating talents with moral education, done a lot in social service and construction of the life-long education system and formed a mode to attach equal importance to degree education and non-degree education. In terms of the continuing education for degree, the school is responsible for the management and teaching tasks of 6 majors which have over 2500 students. As far as non-degree education is concerned, the school has been successively selected as Base for the Training and Cultivation of Presidents of Vocational Colleges of the Ministry of Education, Pilot Institution for Self-Directed Study of Cadres of the Organization Department of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region CPC Committee, regional-level Base for Training of Financial Talents and regional-level Base for Research-Based Study, Practice and Education of Middle School Students and Primary School Students. It shoulders the task of continuing education of the CPC and government departments, public institutions and enterprises.

The continuing education is an important part of the talent cultivation system of IMU, driving force for the “Double-First” efforts of the university and a significant window to serve the society. The school will seriously explore the new path for continuing education, implement the system of management by objectives and perfect the incentive mechanism to boost the enthusiasm of its staff members, improve its management to try to become a study-oriented and pioneering department. It will keep bettering the quality of its continuing education, advance the standardized, orderly and healthy development of the continuing education of the university and strengthen the school’s involvement and contribution in the university’s development.
