Students from the Department of Journalism of Inner Mongolia University (IMU) – located in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region – on May 30 participated in online thesis defenses in order to qualify for their graduation, according to IMU officials.
Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus epidemic, most of the graduates have not yet returned to school, so the school decided to take the form of online thesis defense meeting.
IMU officials said that during the online thesis defenses, students gave a presentation of their papers and then teachers asked a series of questions. If they passed, then the student could graduate.
According to IMU officials, there were 113 graduates in the Department of Journalism, who were divided into five groups. Each group used online conference software to display and present their power point slides in the form of screen sharing and video conversations.
The teachers in each group then asked and evaluated the relevant key questions and also asked about the future plans of the graduates.
At the end of the online thesis defenses the teachers all sent their best wishes to the graduates. Teachers and students then took cloud group photos in the form of screen sharing.
