Nine-month-long IMU 13th career planning festival concludes

The nine-month-long 13th students’ career planning festival at Inner Mongolia University (IMU) – located in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region – concluded at the end of May, according to a June 3 report on the IMU’s website.

The IMU held three kinds of special activities during the festival: competitions, lectures and interviews.

The school, among others, organized and held a students career planning competition, an online curriculum vitae (CV) design competition and online excellent CV exhibition.

IMU officials said these events encouraged students to explore and learn about different careers, to establish a positive outlook on career selection and values and to combine theoretical learning with practice.

According to the different needs of students, IMU also held seven symposiums.

At them, it invited graduates to talk about topics including employment, postgraduate recommendation, postgraduate entrance examination and civil service examinations.

During these sessions, the learning experiences of previous graduates were shared and students were guided on how to clarify their career objectives and make good career preparations.

IMU officials said that during the novel coronavirus outbreak, the university conducted online themed lectures and live Q & A of employment guidance for students -- focusing on CVs, remote interviews, job-hunting psychology and contract management -- with a total of more than 5,000 students participating and having interactive exchanges with teachers online.

According to IMU officials, the successful festival improved employment awareness, as well as fine-tuned the ability of students to find work and develop their careers.

It effectively promoted students’ understanding of the employment situation and provided future career planning in an all-round way.
