Inner Mongolia University lab adds key innovation team

A new innovation team was added on June 12 to the Key Laboratory of Herbage & Endemic Crop Biotechnology established by the Ministry of Education and Inner Mongolia University (IMU) – located in Hohhot, capital of North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region -- according to IMU officials.

IMU officials said the newly added innovation team, majoring in biology of Leymus chinensis – a species of wild rye grass native to China, has gathered six sub-teams of professors and formed a multi-dimensional and multi-level research operation.

They said it would become a first-class authority on single grassland plants, with natural materials to study and top minds following an optimal course of research.

At present, the team is currently working on three Leymus chinensis-related projects for the National Natural Science Foundation of China, one major Leymus chinensis project in Inner Mongolia, two Leymus chinensis projects for Inner Mongolia’s natural science foundation -- and has published three academic papers related to Leymus chinensis..
