Inner Mongolia Chahar Culture Studies Association comes to IMU for Exchange

On November 17, 2020, a team led by Pan Xiaoping, director of Inner Mongolia Chahar Culture Studies Association(IMCCSA) came to IMU for the exchange about the coordinated cultural innovation. Gao Huiguang, secretary of the CPC Committee of Inner Mongolia Social Sciences Federation (IMSSF) and chairperson of the organization, was invited to the exchange meeting and gave a speech at the meeting. Zhang Liping, secretary and commissioner of the Discipline Inspection Commission of IMU gave a welcome speech at the meeting. Erhenbyar, vice president of IMU, presided over the meeting. Also present were Zhang Zhongliang, secretary general of IMSSF and member of the CPC committee of IMSSF, Zhu Lang, director of Social Sciences Popularization Department of IMSSF and Surna, head of the Office of IMSSF.

Meeting

Zhang Liping pointed out in his speech that a deep and thorough study of Chahar Culture is historically and practically important in building a culturally powerful ethnic autonomous region, pushing forward the construction of a culturally powerful socialist country, improving the soft power of China and realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. He also said that IMU is the first university established by the party and the country in the area mainly inhabited by minority ethnic groups. As the university under “211 Project”, a “Double-First Class” university and the one jointly supported and funded by the Ministry of Education and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, IMU bears the responsibility to develop the minority ethnic culture in Inner Mongolia and foster minority ethnic intellectuals to conduct scientific and technological research, and has the mission for the hand-down and innovation of minority ethnic culture. Since it was established 63 years ago, IMU has formed a development pattern to build a high-level university with minority ethnic characteristics and prominent regional features in the border areas, set a solid foundation for the humanities and social sciences research and had rich talent resources for minority ethnic culture study and books and literature concerned.

Pan Xiaoping, director of IMCCSA, introduced IMCCSA’s studies at the meeting. IMCCSA is an academic organization directly affiliated to IMSSF and was established and derived from, in 2017, Chahar Culture Studies Promotion Association. Since its establishment, basing itself in Inner Mongolia and intending its studies for the country, IMCCSA has conducted its research of Chahar Culture under the guidance of Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; Focusing on the academic research, the association has pushed forward the construction of minority ethnic culture and made the achievements of The History of Chahar, The Customs in Chahar and The Historical Relics in Chahar. In addition, IMCCSA has also made such cultural and artistic achievements as the excellent plays of Chahar Wedding and Brave Chahar. What has been achieved by IMCCSA shows that its studies have been transformed into achievements which effectively served the society. Pan Xiaoping also suggested that IMU and IMCCSA cooperate in the collection and sorting of literature materials, field survey, development of historical and cultural resources, academic exchanges, establishment of platforms for transformation of scientific studies, launch of the studies of vital subjects and output of important achievements.  

Gao Huiguang, chair of IMSSF, pointed out that IMU is the most renowned institution of higher learning in Inner Mongolia which has a solid academic foundation. IMCCSA has stronger research teams among the social organizations directly affiliated to IMSSF and has made many high-quality achievements. He also said that it is a good way for both sides to cooperate and jointly build a platform for coordinated innovation, which makes social organizations push forward their social science studies and improves their research capabilities and level with rich academic resources of university. He hoped that IMU and IMCCSA can make expected achievements and jointly make contributions to the development of minority ethnic culture and social science studies.

Also present at the meeting were over 20 attendees including Pan Zhaodong, academic adviser of IMCCSA, Ulan, deputy director and secretary of IMCCSA, Gotumur, deputy director and chief expert of IMCCSA, Dahurbayar, director of the Office of Humanities and Social Sciences, Alatanbolig, dean of the School of Ethnology and Sociology, Uyun Gerle director of Mongolian Studies Center, Yaru, director of the Office of the Studies Center for Mongolia and other attendees concerned.

Meeting

Erhenbayar, vice president of IMU, pointed out in his concluding remarks that the coordinated innovation between IMU and IMCCSA is conducive to form a pattern for the coordinated development of institutions of higher learning and social organizations and jointly make achievements. He also said that the cooperation between two sides should focus on the improvement of the innovation capabilities, push forward the coordinated innovation between the university and local organizations and government and form a system for innovative research. He pointed out that the cooperation should be integrated into the discipline of ethnology of IMU jointly supported and funded by the Ministry of Education and the autonomous region, and intended for the cultural tourism projects in the region. He added that with the Center for the Hand-Down and Coordinated Innovation of Cultures of Mongolians and Other Ethnic Groups in Northern China, the schools, departments and centers which are relevant to the discipline of Mongolian studies and that of ethnology should expand their areas of cooperation in term of deepening their studies, jointly conduct studies of the subjects concerned, organize such academic activities as academic forums and seminars, form an integration pattern for production, teaching and research, provide intellectual support for the economic, cultural and social development of and make contributions to Inner Mongolia.
