On December 14, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region CPC Committee’s Publicity Department and Committee on the Work of the Institutions of Higher Learning and the Committee of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Communist Youth League issued the Decision on Honoring the Winner of the Student of the Year of the 8th Inner Mongolia “Star of Taoli” Award and Other Nominees(No.13 Document issued by Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region CPC Committee’s Publicity Department). Qihel, a student from the class for the Mongolian language and literature studies of the College of Mongolian Studies(CMS), won the student of the year of the 8th Inner Mongolia “Star of Taoli” Award.

Qinhel is chair of Inner Mongolia College Students’ Federation and former chair of IMU Students’ Union. In light of his studies, he has a positive attitude and properly balances his studies and his work at the students’ federation and union. He has always been prioritizing his studies in his major. And through his relentless efforts and hard work he has made great achievements and been recommended to go to graduate school for his undergraduate major. In terms his students’ work, Qinhel and his team members of IMU Students’ Union, had followed his principle to focus on problems of students and settle difficulties for them while he was the chair the organization. He has strong organization capabilities and great charisma and organized more than 60 events of different sizes. In 2018, Qinhel was elected chairperson of Inner Mongolia College Students’ Federation at the 9th Inner Mongolia College Students’ Congress. During his tenure, he put much of his energy into the daily work of the students’ union and associations affiliated to the federation, put into practice the union’s management and supervision measures and promoted the reform of students’ union and associations affiliated to the federation. When Covid-19 broke out, he quickly responded to the appeal of the Committee of Inner Mongolia Communist Youth League for the college students who were back at home to help the work of their communities, villages and Gacha (Mongolian equivalent for village) and provided help for the Gacha where he is from. He also organized the students’ union of Inner Mongolia College Students’ Federation to appeal to the Youth League members of Inner Mongolia through the WeChat group they are in and their microblogs to make their donations for and contribute to the fight against Covid-19. Qinhel has successively won over 30 honorary titles and awards including “National Outstanding Communist Youth League Member”, “National Endeavor Scholarship”, “Self-Improvement Star of College Students”, “Inner Mongolia Outstanding Communist Youth League Member”, and “Outstanding Student Cadre” .

The selection and honoring of the winner of the student of the year of Inner Mongolia “Star of Taoli” Award are co-sponsored by Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region CPC Committee’s Publicity Department and Committee on the Work of Institutions of Higher Learning and the Committee of Inner Mongolia Communist Youth League. The graduates, undergraduates and students from universities, colleges and junior colleges including those private ones in Inner Mongolia, can take part in the selection. Since 2012, there have been 8 selections of the award in a row for 8 years. The selection of the award is intended to cultivate the young who can take the responsibility to rejuvenate the Chinese nation, select, set, publicize and honor the role models of the contemporary college students, give full play of the models, carry forward the core values of the times, spread positive forces of the young, educate and lead the young college students around Inner Mongolia to work hard, cultivate their morality, differentiate the right and wrong, be an honest person and cultivate such noble values of patriotism, working hard, seeking truth and earnestly practicing. The award also encourages college students to be ambitious, down-to-earth and courageous enough to lead people who are endeavoring for the future of their country and themselves in the contemporary times and have a life that live up to expectations conferred by the times.

   Since the award was launched, IMU has been attaching great importance to it and recommending its outstanding students for the nomination and selection of the award every year. Those who won the award, are either the students who have high moral values and good performance in their studies and are ready to dedicate themselves to the social causes or the students who are self-reliant and devote themselves to innovation or the students who are filial to their elders and dear to their beloved ones and never hesitate where good is to be done. These winners of the award show the spirit and characters that contemporary college students should have and are recognized by teachers and students. These role models are setting good examples in and outside IMU. They are influencing people around them with what they do and further promote the cultivation of the core socialist values of IMU.
