The launching ceremony for the Transportation Data Analysis and Visualization Laboratory of Inner Mongolia and Academic Symposium for Modern Transportation was held at the Multifunctional Hall (A453) of the Transportation Institute of IMU in the morning of May 21, 2021.

Liu Zhanying, secretary of CPC Party Committee and Chairman of Board and Zhang Zhenyi, vice chief-engineer and director of the Department of Designing Management of Hohhot Rail Transit Construction Management Co., Ltd., Chen Ming, director of the Data Center of Hohhot Public Transportation Corp., Prof. Gao Yueer from Huaqiao University, Associate Prof. Xu Chuan from Southwest Jiaotong University, Associate Prof. Wang Xiang from Soochow University, Associate Prof. Shan Xiaonian from Hohai University and Zhang Dong, a young expert from Dalian University of Technology attended the ceremony at invitations. The ceremony was chaired by Prof. Wu Jun, deputy dean of the institute.


Bai Toya, vice secretary of the CPC Party Committee and dean of the institute attended and addressed the ceremony. She started by expressing thanks to the higher authorities, enterprises in the sector and scientific research colleges and universities for the sustained care and support for the construction and development of the institute, and extended warm welcome to the presence of the experts and scholars. Bai pointed out that the establishment of the Transportation Data Analysis and Visualization Laboratory of Inner Mongolia marked a crucial step of the institute from conventional research of transportation to researches and applications of modern intelligent transportation, and was of great significance to the discipline construction, talent training and outbound cooperation and exchanges of the institute. Upon its kickoff, the laboratory will provide substantial grounds for the decision-making and management in the field of transportation of Inner Mongolia and play an active role in the building of intelligent urban transportation system by relying on the Research Center of Transportation of Inner Mongolia and the Research Center for Urban Transportation Data Science and Application Engineering of Inner Mongolia.

The Academic Symposium for Modern Transportation was chaired by Zhu Yuan, associate Research Fellow of the Department of Transportation Engineering of the institute and director of the Comprehensive Affairs Office of the Research Center of Transportation of Inner Mongolia. At the symposium, young experts and scholars from renowned universities in China, including Gao Yueer, Wang Xiang, Xu Chuan, Shan Xiaonian, Zhang Dong and Huo Yueying gave academic reports entitled The Application of the Big Data of Transportation in Comprehensive Public Transportation Systems in Urban Areas, Differentiated Inducing Incentives for Congested Roads in Urban Areas, Appraisal of Plans for Transportation Organization in Case of Roadworks Based on Driving Mode, Studies of Strategies of Ecological Driving of Intelligent Connected Battery-driven Public Buses, Studies of Pricing of Off-road Public Parking Based on Individually Chosen Behavior and Studies on the Number of Grades of Service Quality on Express Public Buses Based on Perception of Passengers in combination with the achievements of their respective fields, exchanged and shared their exploring reflections on the frontier issues in the construction of modernized and intelligent transportation, discussed the prospects of the application of the new technologies of data science in the field of transportation of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and presented a spectacular academic feast for the faculty members and students of the Transportation Institute.

The guests present at the symposium visited the Transportation Data Analysis and Visualization Laboratory of Inner Mongolia newly started at the Transportation Institute. Wang Zhengyu, director of the Academic Affairs Office, Li Guodong, vice director of the Section of Transportation Education and Teaching, Liu Linping, vice director of the Section of Scientific Research and over 200 representatives of the faculty members and students of the Transportation Institute were also present at the ceremony and the symposium.
