The symposium on Chinese Multi-Ethnic and Integrated Literature and Culture in Yuan Dynasty and annual conference of Inner Mongolia Society for Literature in Yuan Dynasty held at IMU

On June 5, 2021, the College of Literature, Journalism and Communication held the symposium on Chinese Multi-Ethnic and Integrated Literature and Culture in Yuan Dynasty and annual conference of Inner Mongolia Society for Literature in Yuan Dynasty.

Present at the meeting are Zhan Furui, former chief librarian of National Library of China and dean of the School of Chinese Language and Literature of Beijing Foreign Studies University and over 100 attendees from such universities and institutes at home and abroad as Communication University of China, Minzu University of China, Beijing Language and Culture University, Institute of Literature of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Fudan University. Also present are Gao Huiguang, secretary of CPC Group of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Federation for the Circle of Social Sciences and chairperson of the federation, Liu Zhiyu, secretary of IMU CPC Committee, Erhimbayar, vice president of IMU, heads of the departments of IMU concerned, Li Guangjie, director of Social Sciences Literature Editorial Office of Elephant Press, Zha Hongde, Changjiang Scholar of the Ministry of Education, outstanding  professor of Nankai University and Distinguished Professor of IMU. At the meeting, Gao Huiguang, secretary of CPC Group of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Federation for the Circle of Social Sciences and chairperson of the federation, and Liu Zhiyu, secretary of IMU CPC Committee unveiled the plate for Inner Mongolia Research Base for Literature and Culture in Yuan Dynasty.

While addressing the meeting, Erhimbayar, vice president of IMU, introduced the recent construction attempts and development of the disciplines of humanities and social sciences of IMU. He said that in recent years researchers in the disciplines of humanities and social sciences of IMU have been following the instructions of Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee of “Fully carry out the ethnic policies of the CPC, deepen the education on ethnic unity and progress, forge strong sense of the community of the Chinese nation, enhance the exchanges, communications and integrations among different ethnic groups and push different ethnic groups to unite together like pomegranate seeds holding together to strive for common prosperity”, and broadening the research path. Now they have made a series of achievements in the application of research projects and publication of articles and books. Erhimbayar also pointed out that Yuan Dynasty is a very important period for the development of the unity among different ethnic groups of the Chinese nation, and people at that time also made important contributions to the splendid culture of the Chinese nation. And a profound study of the literature and culture in Yuan Dynasty will play a significant role in properly handling the historical and cultural heritage and tapping and carrying forward the splendid traditional culture. Inner Mongolia is closely related to the history and culture of Yuan Dynasty and IMU should make its own contributions it ought to in the study of literary history of Yuan Dynasty. Erhimbayar indicated that the university will attach great importance and show its strong support to the building of Inner Mongolia Research Base for Literature and Culture in Yuan Dynasty and hoped that with the support of the experts and scholars from Inner Mongolia and other regions in China, the researchers in the disciplines of humanities and social sciences of IMU will produce more high-quality achievements, make concerted efforts to push ahead with the study of literature and culture in Yuan Dynasty and contribute accordingly to forging a strong sense of the community of the Chinese nation.

Zha Hongde, chief expert of Inner Mongolia Research Base for the Literature and Culture in Yuan Dynasty, introduced why the base is established and how its establishment is prepared and how it will develop. Prof. Zha said that the base intends to gather together all the research forces in Inner Mongolia and all academic resources in China, unite around it all researchers with the same academic pursuit and try its best push ahead with the study of theories about the literature in Yuan Dynasty so as to build Inner Mongolia into a place which is strong in the study of the literature of Yuan Dynasty in the foreseeable future and provide a national platform for the study of the literature of Yuan Dynasty.

After the opening ceremony were the group meetings. At the meetings, the election for Inner Mongolia Society for Literature in Yuan Dynasty was conducted. Ms Lianghui, CEO of Book Editing of Oriental Publishing House recommended and introduced A General Introduction to Literature in Yuan Dynasty. The experts and scholars had a profound discussion about how to enhance the level and influence of the study of the literature in Yuan Dynasty and how to improve the quality of sorting out the literature in Yuan Dynasty to forge a strong sense of the community of the Chinese nation and gave their comments and suggestions on the construction and development of Inner Mongolia Research Base for Literature and Culture in Yuan Dynasty in Inner Mongolia and sorting and publication of literary notes in Yuan Dynasty.
