Entrusted by IMU, the Development Center of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs assembled experts to conduct a third party appraisal of the scientific and technological achievements of the Innovation and Application of the Key Technologies of the Production of Frozen Semen for Gender Control of Dairy Cows and the Establishment of the Repository of the Animals of the Mongolian Plateau chaired by Prof. Li Xihe from the School of Life Sciences of IMU in coordination with China Agricultural University, Beijing Dairy Cows Center, Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, Inner Mongolia SK Xing Animal Breeding Biotechnology (Group) Co., Ltd. and other institutions in Hohhot on October 10. The appraisal conference was presided over by Mr. Rao Zhohong, director of the Development Center of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

The appraisal board consists of 9 renowned experts in the trade with Academician Zhang Yong from the Northwest A&F University as the chairman, Academician Jin Yining from the Academy of Military Medical Sciences and Academician Yin Yulong from the Institute of Subtropical Agriculture of the Chinese Academy of Sciences as vice chairmen. Mergen, Grade II Inspector from the Department of Science & Technology of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Gao Guanglai, vice president of IMU, Niu Yiding, director of the Division of Science and Technology of IMU and members of the project team involved in the accomplishment of the achievements are present at the appraisal conference.

The conference

Prof. Li Xihe gives a report on the R&D and application of the achievements on behalf of the project team at the conference. The experts present at the conference listen carefully to the report, review the relevant documents and materials for the appraisal, give recognition of the research work of the two achievements and put forward valuable advice. The expert group unanimously agree that the project team of the Innovation and Application of the Key Technologies of the Production of Frozen Semen for Gender Control of Dairy Cows proceed from the demand for fine breed female dairy calves urgently needed for the development of the dairy industry, spend 20 years from basic research to industrial application, work out highly effective new technologies and new products of X frozen semen for gender control of dairy cows, realize industrialized spreading and application of the largest scale in the world, and achieve significant economic and social benefits; the overall achievement has reached an advanced level globally, of which the level of technological application and the scale of spreading are in a leading position in the world with great significance for an upswing of the industry of dairy cow breeding and the rejuvenation of the dairy industry of China. The project team of the Establishment of the Repository of the Animals of the Mongolian Plateau base themselves on the strategy of biological resources of the State and of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, establish repository and information platform themed by domestic animals and endangered wild animals peculiar to the Mongolian Plateau, and focus their efforts on the genetic G-banding Karyotypes of special domestic animals and mammals, the identification of ornithological DNA fingerprints and basic research of life sciences of the horse-donkey crossbreeding reproductive regulation, which fill the blank in the field of international biological resources; the overall achievement has reached an internationally advanced level and the achievement of the research of the regulation of reproduction of animal crossbreeding is of great theoretical significance for the studies of reproductive biology.
