Meeting held by Northeast Asian Language Resources Center of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region for the acceptance check of its project achievements

From December, 6 to 9, 2021, the Northeast Asian Language Resources Center of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regionhttp://218.21.196.5:28600/dbyzc/guide invited experts to hold a meeting for the acceptance check of the achievements of its project. Present online at the meeting for acceptance check were Prof. Wang Houfeng with Peking University, Prof. Chen Yongzhong with China National Institute of Standardization, Prof. Xuan Longyun with Yanbian University, Prof. Turgun · Ibrayim with Xinjiang University, Prof. Cai Rangjia with Qinghai Normal University, Prof. Tsingltu with Inner Mongolia Normal University, Chen Zhuang, a senior engineer with China National Institute of Standardization, Lv Jianchun, a senior engineer with Huaguang Information Technology Co; Ltd., Prof. Darhubayar, director of the Office of Humanities and Social Sciences of IMU and Li Huimin, deputy director of the Assets Office of IMU, attended the offline acceptance check. With the strict supervision and selection of the supervision company, of 16 sub-projects, 6 which are built by such enterprises and public institutions as Chinese Academy of Sciences, China National Institute of Standardization and Chengdu Liantu Technology are qualified for acceptance check and successfully passed the check.

Prof. Nasunurtu, leader of the project, expressed his sincere thanks to experts and supervision company. He urged other companies and institutions involved to complete the tasks according to the contract.

                                             

Meeting

“Northeast Asian Language Resources Digital Platform” is one of the national projects for informatization of government affairs with “One Belt and One Road Initiative”. Based on the development of English and such languages that are used in northeastern Asian countries as Chinese, Mongolian, Russian, Japanese and Korean, one language application supporting system, 2 application service systems and database are to be built.

Northeast Asian Language Resources Digital Platform

 

Since it began to be carried out on June 30, 2020, the project has researched and finished some tasks concerned and integrated 10 apps. Moreover, the corpuses for the project has gathered 100 million words and its literature resources has gathered 1 million books. They are as follows:

1. Apps

They include Digital Museum of Northeast Asian Language Resourceshttp://218.21.196.5:20080/; Darhan-Northeast Asian Languages Translationhttps://darhan.niutrans.com/Trans; Darhan dictionaries(The search system for Mongolian dictionaries: http://219.159.44.166:37027/toli/ and Chinese-Mongolian Translation System: http://39.99.62.216:8010/); the System for Translation of Spoken Northeast Asian Languages; machine translation system for texts; text transformation system; multi-lingual OCR recognition system; multilingual search engine; Digital Platform for Northeast Asian Language Service and Uighur Mongolian Literature http://39.99.62.216:8015/mongol.

2. Corpuses

Corpus is the basis for developing such applied products as multilingual reference books, digital dictionaries, language-learning software and multilingual machine translation. Now the corpuses include: 1). Monolingual corpuses which involve traditional Mongolian, Cyril Mongolian, Daur language, Oroqen language and Ewenki language and linguistic materials corresponding to voice texts. 2). Multilingual corpuses which include the following parallel corpuses: Chinese-Mongolian corpus, Chinese-English corpus, Chinese-Russian corpus, Chinese-Japanese corpus, Chinese-Cyril Mongolian-traditional Mongolian corpus, Chinese-English-Korean corpus, Chinese-English-Russian corpus, Chinese-English-Cyril Mongolian corpus, Cyril Mongolian-traditional Mongolian-Russian-Chinese corpus, Cyril Mongolian-traditional Mongolian-Japanese-Chinese corpus, Cyril Mongolian-traditional Mongolian-Korean-Chinese corpus. Some of the corpuses have been displayed on the platform.

3. Documentary database

1) Featured resources that includes the rubbings in Uighur Mongolian, Phags-pa script, Jurchen language, Khitan language, Turki and Tod language, inscriptions on precipices, relics, ancient classic literature, research papers and books concerned.

2) Classic literature that includes 980,000 copies of Chinese classic literature which are preserved at home and abroad.

3) Journals and magazines which include currently-published journals and magazines in 7 languages of 6 northeast Asian countries and journals and magazines published in China before 1949.

4) Archives that include archives in Mongolian and Chinese since the Middle Ages.

5) Calligraphy works and traditional Chinese paintings that include pictures of 6 million Chinese traditional paintings and calligraphy works which are preserved at home and abroad.

6) Photocopied family tree books which include photocopied version of over 6000 family tree copies since Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty which are preserved in museums at home and abroad.

Besides, audio and video resources of 3000 hours are also collected.

The platform is to provide fast knowledge-searching-and-exchanging service for teachers, students, government employees and tourists. While displaying the history and customs of the northeast Asian countries along “One Belt and One Road”, the platform is intended to better tell Chinese stories and learn from the excellent parts of cultures of other countries so as to let northeast Asian countries better understand the culture and history of China and help the social and economic development of the autonomous region and the country.
