2021 meeting of directors of Confucius Institute of Kalmyk State University and IMU held

On the afternoon of December 6, 2021, 2021 meeting of directors of Confucius Institute of Kalmyk State University(KSU) and IMU was held.

The meeting was held in form of video conference. From the Russian side, present at the video conference were Mr. Salaev Badma, president of KSU, Mr. Imeev Vladimir, vice president of KSU, Ms. Dzhimbeeva Lolita, Russian director of the Confucius Institute, Zhao Yong, Chinese director of the institute, Mr. Ubushaev Evgenyi, chairman of the Faculty of Humanities of KSU, Ms. Pavlova Nyudlya, chairwoman of the Faculty of Economics of KSU, Mr. Lidzhiev Mingiyan with the Institute of Kalmyk Philology and Oriental Studies of KSU, Ms. Staroverkina Lyubov, chairwoman of the Faculty of Pre-university Training and Education of Foreign Citizens of KSU, Mr. Houndayi Anselme, director of the Division of Foreign Affairs of KSU and Ms. Alzheeva Marina, Russian-Chinese interpreter of KSU.

From the Chinese side, present at the conference were Chen Guoqing, president of IMU, Erhimbayar, vice president of IMU, Wei Yonggui, dean of the School of Literature, Journalism and Communication of IMU, Wu Yingzhe, executive deputy dean of the School of Mongolian Studies of IMU, Hou Jianyun, associate professor with the School of Economics and Management of IMU, Yaru, associate professor with the Center for Studies of Mongolia, Li Chuanjin, deputy dean of the Foreign Languages College of IMU who acts as interpreter, Duan Manfu, deputy director of the Division of International Cooperation and Exchange of IMU, Sun Guilin, deputy director of the Division of International Cooperation and Exchange of IMU, and Hongmei and Wu Xiaodan, section head and member of the Division of International Cooperation and Exchange of IMU. The meeting was chaired by Duan Manfu, deputy director of the Division of International Cooperation and Exchange of IMU.

                                             

Meeting

At the meeting, Chen Guoqing, president of IMU, on behalf of IMU, expressed his warm congratulations to the opening of the meeting and extended his sincere greetings to Mr. Salaev Badma, president of KSU, Mr. Imeev Vladimir, vice president of KSU and other friends from KSU who have been supporting the development of the Confucius Institute. Chen Guoqing said that IMU has attached great importance to the work of the institute after its affiliation changed and made The IMU Rules for Administration of the Confucius Institute. Chen also said that strictly following the local Covid-19-preventing-and-controlling measures and efficiently protecting themselves, IMU and KSU had tried their best to overcome the difficulties they faced and made their conceited efforts to hold online and offline activities. President Chen thought highly of what the institute has achieved since its establishment. Chen Guoqing hoped that in the near future two universities would have wide practical exchanges and cooperations at different levels across the board and contribute more to exchange and mutual-learning between Chinese and Russian civilizations.

Mr. Salaev Badma, president of KSU and Mr. Imeev Vladimir, vice president of KSU, gave their speeches successively. They introduced the current operation of the Confucius Institute, its achievements, its future plan for development and constructive advice. They thanked IMU for its strong support that IMU has given to KSU since two universities began their cooperation. They said that KSU has been included in “Priority Development Plan 2030”. KSU intends to form a group of colleges and take lead in acquiring new scientific knowledge, technologies and development. They hoped that two universities would have close cooperation and exchange and establish friendly relationship.

Zhao Yong, Chinese director of the Confucius Institute and Ms. Dzhimbeeva Lolita, Russian director of the Confucius Institute, gave their detailed work reports on the institute’s structure, staff development, institution development, self-assessment, Chinese teaching and future plan for Chinese teaching, how the institute has done its work in recent years, and existing problems of the institute.

The two sides discussed the institute’s work plan for 2022 and expansion of cooperation between two universities. Mr. Ubushaev Evgenyi, chairman of the Faculty of Humanities of KSU, Ms. Pavlova Nyudlya, chairwoman of the Faculty of Economics of KSU and Mr. Lidzhiev Mingiyan with the Institute of Kalmyk Philology and Oriental Studies, respectively introduced their own faculties and disciplines and gave the cooperation advice concerning their faculties and disciplines. Erhimbayar, vice president of IMU, responded to their advice and gave his advice about the exchange and cooperation between IMU and KSU in above-mentioned fields and disciplines, academic exchange and cooperation, exchange of students and project cooperation.
