On May 30, 2022，the Science and Technology Department of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region（IMAR） made public the would-be approved key demonstration projects for seed and breed technology innovation in IMAR in 2022, which are prize-offering and bottleneck-problem-targeted. Of 14 projects, IMU, as the major participant, get involved in 9 which are estimated to get the support of RMB147 million. IMU researchers are in charge of 3 of them as chief scientists.
The key demonstration projects that are to be launched are the important arrangements by the Science and Technology Department of IMAR to carry out the task assigned by the CPC Committee and government of IMAR and the important measures taken for the key strategic demand to establish the national production base for important agricultural and livestock products according to the principle that innovation chain is deployed according to the industrial chain and industrial chain is distributed according to innovation chain. These projects are organized in a “prize-offering” way. The top enterprises in IMAR take lead in creating the new innovation consortiums in collaboration with universities, colleges and scientific institutions to apply for and carry out the projects.
IMU closely cooperates with such leading enterprises as Inner Mongolia Kuainiu Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Co; Ltd., Inner Mongolia Sk.xing Livestock Breeding and Reproduction Technological Academy Co; Ltd., Inner Mongolia Sainuo Sheep and Goat Breeding Technological Co; Ltd., M.Grass Ecological Environment Protection(Group) Co; Ltd., other universities and research institutes. They jointly establish such 9 innovation consortiums as the Innovation Consortium for the Genetic Improvement of Cattle and Biological Breeding to carry out the cultivation of new high-quality breeds of beef cattle, cows, mutton sheep and goats, and seeds of forage grass and potatoes and the demonstration of their industrialized application and to support scientifically the revitalization of seed and breed industry in IMAR.
Next, IMU will take meeting national and regional strategic needs and urgent industrial needs as its key mission, further integrate the strong innovating resources, organize partners to carry out national and regional key scientific and technological projects like those “prize-offering” and bottleneck-problem targeted ones so as to promote more scientific and technological achievements to go out of labs and come into use and to supply high-level scientific and technological achievements for the high-quality economic and social development of IMAR.
