A delegation from Inner Mongolia University attended the 31th annual meeting and exhibitions for the European Association for International Education – or the EAIE -- in Finland’s capital, Helsinki on Sept 24-28, university officials said.
They were invited to attend by the China Education Association for International Exchange, the officials added,
Nearly 6,200 people participated in the annual conference and exhibition, according to the organizers.
Among them, university educators and representatives from non-governmental organizations, international educational intermediaries and educational assistance institutions took part. The organizers said that participants came from more than 100 countries in total.
Nearly 40 representatives from 17 universities in China participated in the activities.
During the event, the IMU delegation listened to the opening and closing keynote speeches of the EAIE Annual Conference and EAIE Education Exhibition.
The delegation received and visited representatives of cooperation partners from many countries and regions, officials said.
They also communicated and exchanged ideas on consolidating and expanding existing cooperation, expanding the scope of cooperation and exchanges, and establishing new partnerships.
Officials added that furthermore, the IMU delegation communicated with partners and other universities on such issues as study tours, summer schools, short-term abroad learning, curriculum articulation, and credit authentication.
In addition, the IMU delegation also communicated with representatives from other Chinese universities.
Its members learned about the concepts, models and channels of international cooperation and exchanges among participating universities.
Officials said they learned about their successful experiences on how to further expand and develop cooperation in the dominant disciplines.
They also exchanged opinions about such projects as student exchanges, the joint training of doctoral students, short-term teaching of teachers and exchanges of administrative personnel.
Founded in 1989, the EAIE is the European center for expertise, networking and resources in the internationalization of higher education.
The organizers said that every year, many educators attend the EAIE conference to exchange their experiences, promote projects and seek for cooperation.
It has become one of the most influential international educational exchanges in Europe and an important platform for sharing information, connecting peers and exchanging experiences.
