Inner Mongolia University (IMU) President Chen Guoqing went recently to Onguid Banner in Chifeng, in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on a mission, university officials said.
The IMU president went there to investigate the current situation for promoting the in-depth integration of industries, academia and research.
Chen also looked into expanding the development of the local beef cattle industry by science and technology and to actively promote cooperation between IMU’s biology disciplines and grassland ecological animal husbandry in the autonomous region.
During the two-day investigation, Chen had discussions with the local authorities in Chifeng on the commercialization of scientific research achievements -- as well as on the integration of production, study and research -- and future development plans.
He stressed that it was necessary to promote cooperation between IMU's major disciplines and local leading industries.
Chen added that it was also necessary to promote the deep integration of industry, academia and research. Also on the agenda, was helping local economic and social development -- especially utilizing scientific and technological forces -- to promote the rapid and high-quality development of the local beef cattle industry.
In addition, Chen visited the IMU's experimental base in Chifeng and held discussions with representatives from the base and related companies.
