The team of IMU wins the Award of Excellent Investigation and Research Report on Ethnic Minority Work for 2022

Recently, the National Ethnic Affairs Commission(NEAC) of China announced the winner list for the Award of Excellent Investigation and Research Report on Ethnic Minority Work(EIRREMW) for 2022. The research team led by Prof. Bai Weijun who is with the School of Public Administration, won the award for its report named “The Investigation and Research Report on the Professional Skill Training of the Disabled in Inner Mongolia”.

EIRREMW is an award of social sciences established by NEAC to further implement the important thought of Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, about strengthening and improving the ethnic work and guide the departments of ethnic affairs and other departments concerned and research institutions to carry out investigations and researches which center around forging the sense of the community of Chinese nation and push forward the high-quality development of ethnic work of the CPC in the new era. 200 reports won the award. Among them, 20 reports won the first prize; 40 reports won the second prize; 60 reports won the third prize and 80 reports won the Honorable Mention.

It took Prof. Bai Weijun-led research team 5 months to complete The Investigation and Research Report on the Professional Skill Training of the Disabled in Inner Mongolia. The investigation of the professional skill training of the disabled in Inner Mongolia in the report is theoretically and practically important. For one part, there is a gap between the professional skill training of the disabled in Inner Mongolia and that in the developed provinces. The investigation and research can provide a new path for the development of the professional skill training of the disabled in Inner Mongolia and the theoretical basis for fully improving the ability of the disabled in Inner Mongolia to get employed and integrated into society. For another, the disabled are an important social group and it is a significant issue of people’s livelihood to get them employed. In the new era, the disabled are facing new employment situation. The professional skill training for them is faced with new challenges. The investigation of the professional skill training of the disabled and provision of the feasible and effective measures and advice to boost the high-quality employment of the disabled are very vital to protect the legal rights and interests of the disabled and improve the lives of the disabled.

Prof. Bai Weijun has been focusing on people’s livelihood and well-being and conducted social security research for a long time. He has published over 100 academic articles in such journals as Chinese Public Administration, Chinese Social Security Review, Ethno-National Studies. Some of his articles’ full text are reprinted in Xinhua Wenzhai and Reprinted Materials of Renmin University of China. He is the leader of 15 research projects supported by the National Social Science Fund of China and has published 3 monographs by People’s Publishing House and Economic Press China. He has won one first prize and one second prize of the Government Award for the Excellent Philosophy and Social Science Research Results in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. He is selected as one of the 9th batch of “Grassland Talents” and one of the 2nd batch of Outstanding Young and Middle-Aged Experts for Ethnic Studies of the National Ethnic Affairs Commission. He is also one of the selectees of the First-Level Talents of “321 Talent Project in the New Century” of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. He has won the Award of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region for Young Talents of Philosophy and Social Science Research. And Prof. Bai Weijun is vice chairman of the Committee on Social Governance of Chinese Sociological Association  and one of the members of the Board of Directors of China Association of Social Security.  

 

Next, the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences will organize the teachers from the schools of the liberal arts of IMU to further conduct research about “ Five Missions”, serve national strategies and regional needs, forge the sense of the community of the Chinese nation and produce more excellent research results to safeguard the security and stability of Inner Mongolia and boost the building of “Model Autonomous Region” so as to contribute to the “Double-First Class” building of IMU.
