Recently, the Department of Science and Technology of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region announced the list of projects which have won the support of the Natural Science Foundation of Inner Mongolia(NSFIM) in 2023. The fund of IMU’s projects which have won support from the Natural Science Foundation of Inner Mongolia, totals 12.8 million yuan, an 80% increase year on year. The total fund IMU has won from NSFIM ranks first in the region and accounts for 16% of the total of the foundation in 2023. The number of the projects for the outstanding young scientists which IMU has won the support from NSFIM accounts for 50% of the total supported by NSFIM.
IMU has been attaching great importance to basic research and applied basic research. The university has been laying emphasis on the global scientific and technological frontier, major economic development, national significant needs and people’s lives and health. It has concentrated its energy on building Inner Mongolia into the ecological security shield in northern China, security and stability shield in northern border areas of China, national key base for energy and strategic resources, national key base for production of agricultural and animal husbandry products and bridge tower of China to open up to the outside world in northern China. Since the 14th Five-Year Plan period started, IMU has carried out the organized scientific research through the implementation of the plan to improve its scientific innovation, centering around solving the scientific problems and technological bottleneck problems that restrain the high-quality social and economic development of Inner Mongolia. IMU has also strived to cultivate young scientific and technological talents, i.e. selecting a batch of young scientific and technological talents who have outstanding innovation potential and giving them long-term and stable support to improve their innovative capability. IMU has optimized and perfected its regime for the evaluation of scientific research to create innovation environment which encourages those who can concentrate their energy on their studies for a long time. IMU’s ability to serve scientific and technological independence with high-level scientific research has been improving.
