From July 7th to 11th, the academic forum and research conference on "Construction of Ecological Security Barrier in Northern Frontier and Creation of 'The Culture of the Northern Frontier of China' Brand" was held at the Party School of the CPC Hohhot Municipal Committee. This academic forum and research conference were jointly hosted by the Research Base for Forging a Strong Sense of Community of the Chinese Nation of IMU, the editorial department of "Journal of Nanjing Forestry University (Humanities and Social Sciences Edition)", the Culture of the Northern Frontier of China Research Center of the Inner Mongolia Academy of Social Sciences, and the Culture of the Northern Frontier of China Research Institute of IMU. It was undertaken by the Hohhot practice base of the Research Base for Forging a Strong Sense of Community of the Chinese Nation of IMU, the Research Base for Forging a Strong Sense of Community of the Chinese Nation of Hohhot, the Archives and Local Chronicles Museum of Hohhot, the Social Science Federation of Hohhot, the Party School of Saihan District, and the Party School of Wuchuan County. More than 70 scholars from over 30 universities, research institutes, and museums (galleries) participated in the conference, including representatives from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Nanjing University, Shandong University, Lanzhou University, Nanjing Forestry University, East China Normal University, Tianjin Normal University, Inner Mongolia University, Inner Mongolia Academy of Social Sciences, Ordos Museum, Zhaojun Museum, and the Party School of the CPC Hohhot Municipal Committee.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhou Zhenguang, the executive Vice President of the Party School of the CPC Hohhot Municipal Committee. Dahu Baiyila, Vice President of IMU, and Zhu Kai, full-time Chief Editor of "Journal of Nanjing Forestry University (Humanities and Social Sciences Edition)", delivered speeches respectively.

Dahu Baiyila pointed out that under the opportunity of creating the brand of the Culture of the Northern Frontier of China, IMU is now at a new stage of development, adhering to new development concepts, and integrating into a new development pattern. Now it has achieved remarkable phased results in aspects such as monographs on research of the Culture of the Northern Frontier of China, publication of academic papers, collation of academic anthologies, approval of advisory reports, and related project applications. The holding of this activity is also an effective attempt by experts and scholars of IMU to promote the Culture of the Northern Frontier of China research from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to the entire nation.

Zhu Kai expressed that since the journal's founding in 2001, "Journal of Nanjing Forestry University (Humanities and Social Sciences Edition)" has closely paid attention to environmental and social development issues, adhering to the basic concept of serving scholars and academia, it provides a platform for the dissemination and promotion of high-quality academic achievements. In response to the call of "writing papers on the land of the motherland", the journal actively collaborates with scientific research institutions in Inner Mongolia to serve the dissemination of the Culture of the Northern Frontier of China and assist in the creation of the brand of the Northern Frontier of China through journal.

The subsequent high-level roundtable forum was held in two sessions. The theme of the first session was "Construction of Ecological Security Barrier in Northern Frontier", hosted by Jiang Jinxing, an editor of "China Population Resources and Environment", with Liu Juan, an editor of "Journal of Nanjing Forestry University (Humanities and Social Sciences Edition)", served as the commentator. Prof. Zhao Zhen from the School of History of Renmin University of China, Prof. Shen Yimin from the School of History and Culture of Lanzhou University, Jia Min, Deputy Director of the Party History and Party Building Teaching and Research Office of the Party School of the CPC Hohhot Municipal Committee, Yang Meng, Deputy Director of the Economy Teaching and Research Office of the Party School of the CPC Hohhot Municipal Committee, and Zhang Xiaoxiong, a doctoral student of the Research Base for Forging a Strong Sense of Community of the Chinese Nation of IMU, respectively gave keynote speeches on the themes of "Utilization of River and Lake Resources and Ecological Security in Northern Frontier Since the 19th Century" "The Intermediate Zone Between Grassland and Northeast China" "Building a Modernization of Harmonious Coexistence Between Humanity and Nature and Fortifying An Important Ecological Security Barrier in Northern Frontier of the Motherland" "Inner Mongolia Must Take Responsibility and Courageously Shoulder the Task in Fortifying the Northern Frontier Ecological Security Barrier of Our Motherland" and "Research on Plague Prevention and Medical Treatment in the Hetao Region During 1941-1942".

The theme of the second session was "Creation of 'The Culture of the Northern Frontier of China' Brand", and Assoc. Prof. Zhang Menghan, an editor of "Journal of University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences", served as the moderator, and Prof. Zhou Qinqin, the executive dean of the School of Philosophy of University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, served as the commentator.

Research Fellow Zhao Xianhai, Director of the General History Research Office of the Institute of Ancient History of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Research Fellow Wang Hairong, Director of the Culture of the Northern Frontier of China Research Institute of the Inner Mongolia Academy of Social Sciences, Xue Hongwei, Chairman of the Federation of Social Sciences of Hohhot, Baosunaga, Deputy Director of Zhaojun Museum, and Li Yuan, Deputy Director of the Management Teaching and Research Office of the Party School of the CPC Hohhot Municipal Committee respectively gave keynote speeches on the themes of "The Core Frontier and Culture of the Northern Frontier in Ancient China" "Analysis on the Generation Logic of the Culture of the Northern Frontier of China" "Exploration on the Practical Path of Creating the Culture of the Northern Frontier of China Brand in Hohhot" "Interpretation of the Connotation and Value of Zhaojun Culture from the Perspective of the Culture of the Northern Frontier of China" and "Creating the 'The Culture of the Northern Frontier of China' Brand and Enhancing the Cultural Energy Level of the City".

The closing ceremony was presided over by Researcher Fellow Wuyungeerile, Deputy Director of the Research Base for Forging a Strong Sense of Community of the Chinese Nation of IMU. Kang Jianguo, Director of the Culture of the Northern Frontier of China Research Center of the Inner Mongolia Academy of Social Sciences and chief editor of "Chinese Northern Borderland Culture Studies", Zhao Yongqiang, Director of the Archives and Local Chronicles Museum of Hohhot, Researcher Fellow Cui Sipeng, Deputy Director of the Research Base for Forging a Strong Sense of Community of the Chinese Nation of IMU, and Shi Xu, a book editor of Liaoning Ethnic Publishing House, respectively gave speeches. Li Chunlin, former president of the Inner Mongolia Academy of Social Sciences and specially appointed professor of the Research Base for Forging a Strong Sense of Community of the Chinese Nation of IMU, made a concluding speech on the forum.

        In addition, the forum also arranged a series of academic research activities. Participating scholars conducted in-depth field investigations in surrounding areas of Hohhot, visited historical sites, cultural landscapes and major museums in the northern frontier, and had a deeper understanding of the cultural resources in the northern frontier region. They believe that as a regional culture, the Culture of the Northern Frontier of China is a culture bred based on unique geographical location, natural landscape and livelihood methods, and it is worthy of in-depth exploration from academic, cultural, economic and other perspectives.

The academic forum and research conference on "Construction of Ecological Security Barrier in Northern Frontier and Creation of 'The Culture of the Northern Frontier of China' Brand" provided an important platform for protecting the rich natural and cultural heritage of the northern frontier region. Through the joint efforts of people from all walks of life, it is believed that the precious ecological and cultural resources of the northern frontier region will surely shine anew. The creation of "The Culture of the Northern Frontier of China" brand will also make greater contributions to the inheritance and innovation of excellent traditional Chinese culture.
