On the afternoon of September 6, the establishment conference for IMU's Green Chemistry and Environmental Research Institute and the College of Artificial Intelligence was held in No. 8 Meeting Room of the Academic Conference Center at Saihan Campus. The honorary president of IMU, academician Zhao Dongyuan of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, researcher fellow and academician Zhao Jincai from the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wu Suhai, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Government Affairs Services and Data Administration Bureau, Liu Shuang, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Science and Technology Department, Wang Yiling, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Ecological Environment Department, Jiao Hong, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Mayor of the Hohhot Municipal People's Government, as well as responsible comrades from relevant units such as the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Education Department, Science and Technology Department, and Horinger New District, members of IMU's leadership, heads of functional departments, and representatives of faculty and students attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Vice President Zhou Jiantao.

During the meeting, Vice President Liu Yongbin read out the establishment documents for the Green Chemistry and Environmental Research Institute and the College of Artificial Intelligence , as well as the appointment documents for the deans.

Academician Zhao Jincai, researcher fellow at the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Liu Shuang, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Science and Technology Department, Wang Yiling, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Ecological Environment Department, and President Wu Limin unveiled the plaque for the Green Chemistry and Environmental Research Institute.

Wu Suhai, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Government Affairs Services and Data Administration Bureau, Jiao Hong, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Mayor of the Hohhot Municipal People's Government, Party Secretary Cheng Tao of IMU, and Shi Zhenwei, national outstanding youth and specially appointed Dean of the College of Computer Science (College of Software) of IMU unveiled the plaque for the College of Artificial Intelligence .

In his speech, Academician Zhao Jincai, Dean of the Green Chemistry and Environmental Research Institute, stated that against the backdrop of the autonomous region's demand for green development, energy transition, and environmental protection, the establishment of the Green Chemistry and Environmental Research Institute at IMU is an important measure to seize opportunities and serve the development of the autonomous region. In the future, the institute will focus on talent introduction and cultivation, be based on fundamental research, foster related applications and technologies, always pay attention to the international frontiers of the discipline, concentrate on regional needs, the needs of the autonomous region, and future development directions, and enhance cooperation and exchanges with top scientists internationally and domestically, as well as with mainstream domestic groups, to carry out distinctive research work.

Wu Suhai, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Government Affairs Services and Data Administration Bureau, emphasized in his speech that constructing a new discipline system is the fundamental guarantee for forming new quality productivity and focusing on future industries, and it is also the fundamental guarantee for solving issues such as industrial upgrading, economic circulation, and employment mismatch in Inner Mongolia. The establishment of the Green Chemistry and Environmental Research Institute and the College of Artificial Intelligence at IMU is of great significance for the autonomous region to accelerate the cultivation of new drivers and new business forms. The Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Government Affairs Services and Data Administration Bureau will strive to promote the four-way linkage of government, industry, academia, and research, deepen cooperation with IMU and the College of Artificial Intelligence , fully utilize artificial intelligence technology to empower the construction of the government's business environment, accelerate the authorized application of public data resources, continuously improve scientific and technological innovation capabilities and talent training levels, and contribute to the new path of Inner Mongolia and its efforts to accomplish two major tasks.

Cheng Tao, Party Secretary of IMU, expressed gratitude for the long-term care and support from Academician Zhao Dongyuan, Academician Zhao Jincai, and all sectors of society in his speech. He pointed out that the establishment of IMU's Green Chemistry and Environmental Research Institute is the third interdisciplinary research and education platform following the College of Energy Materials and Chemistry and the Institutes of Biomedical Sciences .

The establishment of the College of Artificial Intelligence is an important move for IMU to vigorously promote the construction of emerging engineering disciplines and open up new areas. The establishment of the institutes and colleges will closely follow national and autonomous region strategic needs, strengthen interdisciplinary integration, improve the modern composite talent training system, and courageously take on missions and heavy responsibilities in implementing the autonomous region's "five major tasks," striving to contribute wisdom and strength to the innovation and high-quality development of the entire region.
