In the face of the current novel coronavirus epidemic, Inner Mongolia University (IMU) in Hohhot, capital city of North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has acted decisively, according to IMU officials.
It is requiring all departments to carry out prevention and control initiatives. They are being asked to undertake practical measures, such as making more internet phone calls and doing more remote and flexible office work.
Officials said other measures involve conducting remote online classes from home, as well as promoting independent learning by students, as well as scientific research, management and services.
According to IMU officials, in order to ensure remote online teaching launched by the school kicked off smoothly on March 2, each college formulated rules and plans according to their different situations with majors, grades and courses. These were based on the need for epidemic prevention and control and the actual situation of the college.
At the same time, work groups for online teaching were set up for every college to join a WeChat class group, to help provide audits for the quality of online course resources and to assess the supervision of teaching during the period.
Furthermore, all teachers are trying to learn the operational methods and processes of each online teaching platform.
They are using WeChat groups, QQ groups and other social media for live broadcasts, recording, teaching and discussions – as well as dispatching homework and assignments online, checking and accepting teaching results in real time and actively promoting the deep integration of education, teaching and information technology.
Officials added that all teachers will adopt an "online teaching + real-time interaction + offline independent learning" teaching mode.
They will sustain communications with students through various channels, dispatch learning tasks, guide and urge students to learn independently and conduct assessments through assignments and other means, to ensure teaching quality.
