IMU professor selected to join national level talent pool

Professor Qian Guixia from the School of Economics and Management of Inner Mongolia University (IMU) in -- North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region -- was recently selected to join the national expert and talent pool for poverty alleviation through education and rural revitalization, according to a recent announcement by the Ministry of Education.

IMU officials said the national poverty alleviation group is composed of 148 people, four of whom are selected from Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

Its purpose is to investigate and study the latest situation and identify tasks required to tackle poverty alleviation through education and rural revitalization  at the grass-roots level. Its purpose is to make specific analysis of current conditions and problems in a timely manner and put together valuable research findings, so as to provide a reference for national scientific decision-making.

Qian Guixia is a Level 3 professor and doctoral tutor at IMU’s School of Economics and Management. She is head of the industrial economy direction for first-level doctoral studies in applied economics at IMU and is mainly engaged in the research of the industrial economy, agricultural economy, animal husbandry economy and development of farming and pastoral areas.

At the same time, she has also served as the executive director and director of such bodies as the China forestry, animal husbandry and fishery economic society, the China technology and economic society and the China Agricultural Technology and economic society, as well as being an editorial board member of multiple academic magazines and journals.

She has published two monographs and more than 60 papers, including one SSCI paper and two SCI papers.

In addition, she presided over and completed two autonomous regional projects of the NSFC, one special project for the national key R & D plan and more than 20 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects. She has undertaken academic visits to Arizona State University in the US, Warwick University in the United Kingdom and Aichi University in Japan.

In 2012, she was selected as the second level candidate for the new century 321 project in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

In 2017, she was named "outstanding contribution expert of the autonomous region". In 2018, she was approved as the leader of the industrial innovation team for the "grassland talents" project of Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

In 2012 and in 2015, she won third prize in the fourth and fifth government awards for outstanding achievements in philosophy and social sciences of the autonomous region, second prize in the sixth government awards for outstanding achievements in philosophy and social sciences and third prize for excellent achievements in soft science projects of the Ministry of Agriculture.

At present, she is mainly responsible for teaching graduate courses such as industrial economics, economic research methods, as well as undergraduate courses such as agricultural economics, development economics.
