A delegation of leaders and officials from North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region on April 19 visited Inner Mongolia University (IMU), to learn about the construction of a key state laboratory on the campus, according to IMU officials.

Bu Xiaolin, chairwoman of Inner Mongolia, took her team to  IMU’s state key laboratory of reproductive regulation and breeding of grassland livestock.

During the visit, Bu gained a detailed understanding of the research focus, achievements, development and applications of the laboratory. She also had in-depth talks with the laboratory’s professors and researchers.

Bu expressed the hope that the laboratory would further develop its scientific research capabilities.

She urged the IMU to continuously improve the levels of scientific and technological innovation there -- and to make contributions to improving the breeding efficiency of grassland livestock, the breeding of new varieties of top quality grassland livestock and the establishment of an ecological breeding model.

Bu added that it was important to strengthen scientific and technological innovation -- and to promote collaborative innovation between industry, universities and research.

It was equally important to promote the integration of industrial supply chain, the innovation chain and capital chain and establish a mechanism linking the supply and demand of scientific and technological innovation achievements.

This in turn would advance the industrialization and commercialization of R & D achievements, provide strong support for the autonomous region to accelerate the transformation of development modes -- and explore a new way of high-quality development, guided by ecological priorities and green development.

Jointly approved and established by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the autonomous region in 2017, the state key laboratory of reproductive regulation and breeding of grassland livestock is the only national key laboratory established by university in the autonomous region.
