To fully deepen the exchange and cooperation between Inner Mongolia University(IMU) and its cooperative university-Fudan University(FU) in life sciences and further improve its teaching and scientific research, the Faculty of Life Sciences of IMU (FLS) staged the exchanges named “Exchanges about the Cooperation in Life Sciences between IMU and FU” from July 2 to July 5. Led by Lin Xinhua, dean of the School of Life Sciences of FU(SLS), altogether 9 scholars from FU including Yang Zhong, deputy dean of SLS, Professor Liu Tiemin and Professor Wang Yingxiang were invited to come to IMU for the exchanges.
The exchanges include the following parts: appraisal of backup projects of young scientific talents of IMU, IMU-FU Forum on Cooperation in Life Sciences, IMU-FU Symposium on Cooperation in Teaching Reform, Talent Training and Scientific Research, and cooperation, exchange and inspection relating to the cultivation of key projects and construction of scientific innovation teams. The teachers and students from FLS actively attended the exchanges. And IMU’s divisions, departments and offices concerned gave their help and support to the exchanges. They include Division of Science and Technology, Department of Development Planning, Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs, Department of Graduate Affairs , Office of Human Resources, Office of Domestic Cooperation and Exchange and Office of Party and Administration Affairs.
In the afternoon of July 2, the appraisal of the backup projects of young scientific talents of IMU was conducted in Room 228, the conference room in the Life Sciences Building. Wang Xiao, deputy dean of FLS, presided over the appraisal. Professor Liu Tiemin, research fellow Li Jin and Professor Wang Yingxiang, who are from SLS, were invited as the members of the Expert Committee on the Appraisal to review 10 projects which will be submitted by FLS. During the appraisal the attendees had ardent discussions. The committee experts spoke highly of the achievements made by the young talents with FSL, and gave their valuable advice. After the appraisal, with the careful evaluation and review of the committee members, a candidate list of the backup projects of young talents of FLS came into being.

In July 3, IMU-FU Forum on Cooperation in Life Sciences was held in the conference hall on the 3rd floor of the State Key Laboratory of Reproductive Regulation and Breeding of Grassland Livestock (SKLRRBGL). The forum was live-streamed for the first time. About 500 teachers and students from IMU and FU attended the forum online or offline. On the sight of the forum, there were enthusiastic responses from attendees who interacted with those expert speakers. The forum has brought lots of latest academic developments, helped to set up the important platform of the communication and cooperation for the academic exchanges between IMU and FU and bettered the academic atmosphere of FLS.

On July 4, FLS and SLS held a thematic symposium in Room 120, the conference room of SKLRRBGL. The symposium centered around teaching reform, talent training, scientific research and development of the discipline of life sciences. At the symposium, the comprehensive and thorough discussions and exchanges were conducted and the detailed agreement on cooperation reached. Two sides indicated that they would start the work concerned as soon as possible and advance cooperation in an orderly way.

The four-day exchanges are important not only for promoting the construction of the first-class discipline of FLS and that of SKLRRBGL but for talent training. Besides, the exchanges have made two sides reach a consensus on the cooperation in such aspects as teaching reform, talent training and scientific research. In the future, FLS and SLS will put into practice those cooperation tasks on the basis of the consensus.
