Recently the General Affairs Department of the National Ethnic Affairs Commission announced in its document No. [2020] 55 the third list of Institute of Belt and Road Countries and Areas of the Commission, on which the Center for Studies of the National Conditions of Mongolia organized by IMU and applied by the Center itself that coordinated relevant disciplinary resources found its name. This is the third ministerial-level research center of IMU approved in the field of humanities next to the Center for Mongolian Studies and the Center for the Community of the Chinese Nation, IMU.
The application follows a strict procedure in which the schools (centers) made their applications, IMU organized experts for appraisals, the candidate units defended for their applications, and the Center for Studies of the National Conditions of Mongolia was unanimously approved for submission to the National Ethnic Affairs Commission. The Center for Studies of the National Conditions of Mongolia has as its main supporting unit the Center for Mongolian Studies, which was established in 2016 and specializes in comprehensive studies in the fields of politics, economy, diplomacy, religion, culture, language and literature of Mongolia. Steady and effective construction has enabled the Center to be included into the Chinese Think Tank Index (CTTI) in 2017, the third group of key research bases for philosophical and social sciences in 2018, and its case of IMU Promoting Xi Jinping’s Thoughts of Governance Making Its Way Successfully into Mongolia awarded as the best CTTI case for 2019.
In light of the practical need to promote the Construction of Double First-Class and the Joint Construction of the Ministry and the Autonomous Region, IMU will urge the Center to further strengthen the building of talent teams, carry out in-depth relevant researches, give play to geographical and humanistic advantages, stick to equal emphasis on fundamental research and applied research, actively launch academic exchanges and collaboration, play active roles in consultative service, scientific research and international exchanges, and strive to build the Center for Studies of the National Conditions of Mongolia into a platform for scientific research and an essential think tank which serves national strategies and diplomacy, the opening-up policy and the social-economic development of China.
