On the morning of December 23, 2021, IMU held the meeting for launching the project of “Digitalization of Ancient Literature in Mongolian”. Present at the meeting were Erhimbayar, vice president of IMU, Wang Zhi, curator of the library of Inner Mongolia Academy of Social Sciences, Darhubayar, director of the Office of Social Sciences of IMU, Liu Shi, curator of the library of IMU, Li Hua, curator of Archives of IMU, Zhou Jiantao, dean of the College of Computer Science of IMU, Feilong, deputy director of the Joint Engineering Research Center for Smart Processing of Mongolian Literature, Prof. Wei Hongxi with the College of Computer Science of IMU and heads of such bid-winning companies as China Telecom, China National Infrastructure, Liantu Technology, and Mintong Supervision. Erhimbayar, vice president of IMU, pointed out in his address that when he inspected IMU, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, told IMU that it should strengthen its work in the collection, sorting and protection of ancient literature in Mongolian and tap and carry forward the thought about unity and progress of different ethnic groups in ancient Mongolian literature to encourage different ethnic groups to unite and strive together for common prosperity and development. The project of “Digitalization of Ancient Literature in Mongolian” was one important task to fully carry out and put into practice the essence of the instructions of Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee. The participant companies and researchers should attach great importance to the project, coordinat with each other in the project, and finish the tasks of the project with a high quality on time.

Darhubayar, director of the Office of Social Sciences of IMU, briefly introduced the project. In October, 2021, the initial project design report of the first-phase part of “Digitalization of Ancient Literature in Mongolian” went though the review and appraisal of the Reform and Development Commission of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The builder of the project is IMU. The cooperator of the project is Inner Mongolia Academy of Social Sciences. The Joint Engineering Research Center for Smart Progressing of Mongolian Literature and the library of IMU are to carry out the project. Prof. Felong is in charge of carrying out the project. The goal of the project is to build an internationally first-class center for the digitalization of the ancient Mongolian literature which stores the most digitalized ancient Mongolian literature, has the smartest means of retrieving and analysis and teaching staff and scientific researchers are most dependent on, and to provide important support for the rescue, protection, passing down, development and utility of ancient Mongolian literature and to serve the development of culture of minorities of China, teaching and scientific research of Mongolian studies and ethnological studies abroad and cultural and economic development of Inner Mongolia. After the project is completed, IMU will establish an internationally first-class center for the digitalization of ancient Mongolian literature, which will fully raise the digitalization rate of ancient Mongolian literature, rate of ancient Mongolian literature that can be read online, efficiency of the researchers of ancient Mongolian literature to retrieve and search the ancient literature on the platform to improve the efficiency to read the ancient literature, satisfy the needs of ancient Mongolian literature researchers and cultural creators to retrieve and search ancient Mongolian literature and satisfy the interest of common people to study and explore the ancient Mongolian literature.
Wang Zhi, curator of the library of Inner Mongolia Academy of Social Sciences, Liu Shi, curator of the library of IMU and Zhou Jiantao, dean of the College of Computer Science of IMU, introduced what had been done about the project and their future plans for the project.
Those from the companies and institutions involved in carrying out the project, who are in charge, introduced their preparations and plans for the project. The meeting attendees further discussed such aspects as research focus and distribution of work and coordination in carrying out the project and further clarified the focus and timing of the project.
