On July 16, 2022, the third anniversary of the inspection of IMU by Xi Jinping, general secretary of CPC Central Committee, the First International Forum on Mongolian Ancient Documents which was hosted by the School of Mongolian Studies of IMU and co-organized by the Office for the Collection and Research of Ancient Documents of Ethnic Minorities in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, opened at Taoli Hotel in IMU. Centering around the Mongolian ancient documents regarding religion, literature, biography and language from Liao Dynasty to the Republic of China, 13 experts and scholars from China, Japan, Mongolia, Hungary and Italy conducted their discussions.


Forum
At the opening ceremony of the forum, Erhimbayar, vice president of IMU, addressed the forum. He warmly welcomed the experts and scholars who attended the forum online or offline, and introduced the newly added undergraduate program-the studies of ancient documents, digitalization of ancient documents and building of the platform concerned and work related to ancient documents.
Suylatu, director of the Office for the Collection and Research of Ancient Documents of Ethnic Minorities in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, reviewed the achievements made by Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in the ancient documents of ethnic minorities and introduced the plan for the future work.
At the forum, Prof. BirtalanÁgnes with EötvösLoránd University and chairman of International Association of Mongolian Studies, delivered a speech titled The Legacy of Oyirad Documents Collected in Hungary-Take the Library of Hungarian Academy of Sciences as an Example in which he introduced the Oyirad documents collected in the library and the studies about the documents. The experts in the fields concerned read 13 of their articles which are compiled from their point of view, such as The Spells of Past-Present-Future Buddha along the Silk Road-Marnyi Stones in the 17th Century Found in Ala Valley, The History-Based Literature of Mongolians, Mongolian Annotations, The Survey of Translation and Research of Chinese Classics of Mongolian Studies in Mongolia, The Historical Materials from the Newspapers and the Issues about Mongolian Literature from 1912 to 1949-Take Great KukeTuy as the Core, The Research of Khitan Words, On the Mongolian Translation of Chinese Words and Phrases in Sanhe Quotations and The Handbook for Beginners and Language Contact, On the Protection and Sorting of the Ancient Documents of Mongolian Medicines in Liaoning Province, The Survey of Multi-Language Inscriptions on Precipes in Great Hinggan Mountain Areas, On the Travels of Marco Polo, On the Folklore Materials of SaturOyrirad, The Research of the Year When the Book of “12 Great Events of Buddha” Was Accomplished.
The forum was chaired by Erden Hada, deputy dean of the School of Mongolian Studies and Prof. Ursgala with the School of Mongolian Studies concluded the forum
