On October 4, 2023, Stanford University and Elsevier Data Repository published the World’s Top 2% Scientists 2023 which selected world’s top 2% scientists according to their career-long impact and single-recent-year impact. And some of IMU’s teachers were listed among world’s top 2% scientists. Of them, Zhao Dong Yuan , academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences who is with the College of Energy and Materials Chemistry(CEMC) of IMU, Prof. Wu Limin with CEMC, Prof. Zhang Fan with CEMC, Prof. Liu Jian with the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering(CCCE) of IMU, Prof. Wang Qin with CCCE, Prof. Wang Wenbo with CCCE, Prof. Ma Chaomei with the School of Life Sciences of IMU and Prof. Jian Yongjun of the School of Mathematical Sciences of IMU are included in the lists of career-long impact and single-year impact. And Prof. Liu Zhiliang with CCCE is included in the list of single-recent-year impact.

It is known that the selection of world’s top 2% scientists is based on the analysis of citation data system of Scopus data and graded in terms of such factors as citations(with and without self-citations and self-citations are given), Hirsch H-ingdex, co-authorship adjusted hm-index, sole authorship, sole or first authorship. And the world’s top 2% scientists are selected from nearly 7 million scientists who are classified into 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields according to the standard Science-Metrix classification. The list provides a measurement index for the scientists’ long-term scientific research which can show the impact of the scientists concerned in a more objective and real way. The list of career long impact shows the comprehensive performance of scientists during their career while the list of single year impact focuses on their academic impact of last year. The inclusion on the list means that the scientists included have greater impact in their research fields around the world.
