On June 2nd, the preparatory meeting for the Fourth Yellow River Population Forum was held in Conference Room 6 of the Academic Conference Center at our Saihan Campus. Zhai Zhenwu, President of China Population Society and Professor of Renmin University of China, Du Peng, Vice President of China Population Society and Professor of Renmin University of China, Yang Chenggang, Professor of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Zhang Yuanzhen, President of Henan Population Society, and Zhou Jiantao, Vice President of our university attended the meeting. All members of the leadership team of the School of Ethnology and Sociology, as well as some teacher representatives, attended the meeting. Alatan Baolige, Dean of the School of Ethnology and Sociology, presided over the meeting.

At the meeting, President Zhou Jiantao introduced the discipline construction and development of Inner Mongolia University and the School of Ethnology and Sociology. She thanked the Chinese Population Society for its attention and support to our school, and hoped that the School of Ethnology and Sociology would make every effort to hold the meeting, and do a good job in sociology, including demography, to provide important support for the construction of first-class ethnology disciplines.
Professor Zhai Zhenwu introduced the basic situation of the subject of Chinese demography and the Chinese Society of Demography. He said that there are new opportunities for the development of the discipline of demography, and issues such as low birth rates, negative population growth, aging, hollowing out and migration of border populations, and population development in ethnic regions are all important concerns of the entire society. Professor Du Peng introduced the basic situation of the construction of the demography discipline of Renmin University of China, and believed that the population development in border areas was crucial. The Fourth Yellow River Population Forum could focus on the theme of population development in border areas and building a strong sense of community of the Chinese nation. Professor Yang Chenggang shared the approach of the Population Institute of Southwest University of Finance and Economics in researching population issues in ethnic regions. President Zhang Yuanzhen introduced the preparatory work for the Fourth Yellow River Population Forum, including the conference theme, forum settings, and attendees. Dean Alatan Baolige made an exchange speech based on the professional characteristics of the School of Ethnology and Sociology and the theme of the Yellow River Population Forum.
Experts focused on the construction of first-class disciplines in ethnology of our university, the future development plan of the autonomous region, and the deepening of population development issues in border areas. They had sufficient exchanges and discussions on the preparation of the Fourth Yellow River Population Forum. The fourth Yellow River Population Forum will be held at our school in August 2025. After the meeting, Professor Zhai Zhenwu and his delegation visited our university's research base for strengthening the awareness of the Chinese people's community and the Ethnic Museum.
