Eleven Teachers from IMU Are Selected Into the List of Top 2% Global Leading Scientists Released in 2024

Eleven of IMU faculty members have been selected for the 2024 edition of the World’s Top 2% Scientists list, released on September 16th by Stanford University in collaboration with the Elsevier Data Repository. This list identifies the top 2% of scientists globally based on "career scientific influence" and "annual scientific influence". Several of our faculty members have been included in this prestigious list.

Among them, Academician Zhao Dongyuan (College of Energy Materials and Chemistry), Prof. Wu Limin (College of Energy Materials and Chemistry), Prof. Zhang Fan (College of Energy Materials and Chemistry), Prof. Liu Jian (College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering), Prof. Wang Wenbo (College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering), and Prof. Ma Chaomei (School of Life Sciences) are simultaneously selected into the career scientific influence list (Career) and the annual scientific influence list (Singleyr). Researcher fellow Zhang Jiangwei (College of Energy Materials and Chemistry), Prof. Zhao Yan (College of Energy Materials and Chemistry), Prof. Liu Zhiliang (College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering), Prof. Su Yiguo (College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering), and Researcher fellow Chen Pengyu (School of Economics and Management) are selected into the annual scientific influence list.

The World's Top 2% Scientists List is based on a systematic analysis of citation data from the Scopus database. It uses six key factors for scoring, including total citations (distinguishing between self-citations and citations from others, and providing self-citation data), Hirsch H-index, co-author corrected Schreiber Hm-index, single author, single or first author, etc. It selects scientists ranking in the top 2% in the world from nearly 7 million scientists globally, covering 22 fields and 174 sub-fields. It provides a measure for scientists' long-term scientific research performance and can reflect scientists' influence more objectively and truly. The career scientific influence list (Career) counts the comprehensive performance of scientists during their career, while the annual scientific influence list (Singleyr) focuses more on the academic influence in the previous year. Being selected into the list means that the scholar has a relatively high world influence in his research field.
