A research center for ecology big data applied by Inner Mongolia University (IMU) in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, was included in a list of research centers for engineering of the Ministry of Education, according to IMU officials, indicating that the total amount of IMU’s national level science and engineering research platforms has reached 10 and marks a significant step forward made by IMU in high-level research platform construction.
By drawing support from resources from subjects such as computer science and technology, ecology, environmental science and engineering, the ecology big data center obtained the recognition of the Ministry of Education by using its remarkable research characteristics and academic achievements in the fields of cloud computing, big data, wireless network positioning, natural resource distribution of Inner Mongolia, grassland biodiversity and productivity, grassland ecosystem function in addition to dynamic succession.
The program of engineering research centers of the Ministry of Education is an important facet of the scientific and technological innovation system of colleges and universities in China. It forms an important base and platform for colleges and universities to strengthen resource sharing, promote discipline construction and development, organize research and development of engineering technology, accelerate the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements, train and collate high-level scientific and technological innovation and management talents, as well as to conduct scientific and technological cooperation and exchange.
