IMU, Russian university hold meeting on Confucius Institute

A delegation from Russia’s Kalmyk State University visited Inner Mongolia University (IMU) and had a meeting on Confucius Institutes – being built by the two sides -- at IMU in Hohhot, capital city of North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Dec 14.

IMU vice-president Erhimbayar extended a warm welcome to Vladimir Imeev, the vice president of Kalmyk State University and his delegation -- praising the outstanding achievements of the Confucius Institute program since its inception.

Erhimbayar said that under the direct leadership of the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and with the strong support and joint efforts of both sides, the Confucius Institute jointly built by IMU and Kalmyk State University has been operating without a hitch after many years of construction and development, laying a solid foundation for cooperation between the two universities.

He also made also made constructive suggestions for the future development planning and construction of the Confucius Institute -- and expressed hopes that both sides could carry out more extensive and in-depth cooperation in other disciplines based on the platform created by the institute.

At the meeting, Imeev Vladimir gave a briefing on the current operational status, achievements and future development plans for the Confucius Institute at Kalmyk State University.

He thanked the both universities for their strong support since the establishment of the cooperation and exchange relationship.

He also said he hoped that the cooperation and exchanges between the two universities in the future would further develop in scientific research, teaching and other fields.

Meanwhile Zhao Yong, Chinese president of the Confucius Institute of Kalmyk State University, made a detailed report on the organization.

The report looked at team building, system building, evaluations, the Chinese teaching situation and future planning of the Confucius Institute, as well as the work development and existing problems.
