IMU lab recognized as excellent autonomous regional facility

The key lab for Mongolian information processing technology -- based in Inner Mongolia University in Hohhot, the capital city of North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region -- got major recognition recently, according to IMU officials.

They said the lab was selected as one of four excellent key autonomous regional labs, following an evaluation list published by the autonomous region’s department of science and technology.

According to IMU officials, the department of science and technology in the autonomous region plans to complete the evaluation work for all key labs in Inner Mongolia within three years.

The first batch of 39 laboratories evaluated by the department -- mainly in four fields of chemical industry, information, ecology and Mongolian medicine -- were assessed on whether they were excellent labs.

For the labs recognized as excellent and qualified, the science and technology department will give priority to supporting their scientific research activities and talent team building.

IMU officials added that, taking this evaluation as an opportunity, the university has further promoted its leading disciplines.

It has also promoted integrated various resources, practically followed the relevant management methods of key labs, focused on the development of key common technologies, strengthened basic and applied basic research, constantly improved its original innovation ability and strengthened the management of key labs.

Officials said IMU not only achieved a good evaluation result, but also laid a solid foundation for the application of a national science and technology platform.

They added that it also provided strong support for boosting its general efficiency and promoting the construction of IMU as “double first-class” university.
