School of Physical Education

The Department of physical education of Inner Mongolia University is a teaching and scientific research institution which is subordinate to the school authorities and is mainly based on teaching, founded in 1957. After nearly six decades of development and construction, faculty of Physical Education Department has been increased from 4 (of which only one lecturer) to 32 (including 27 full-time teachers, 3 professors, 11 associate professors and 12 lecturer). Teaching conditions have improved a lot: at the very beginning, which only had an empty wasteland, but now it has multi-campus and fully equipped modern teaching facilities including sports hall, gym, indoor and outdoor basketball courts, plastic track, artificial turf football field, artificial lawn volleyball courts, artificial lawn tennis courts, swimming pools and so forth. Now, Physical Education Department has been built into a teaching and research unit that has strong teaching capacity, advanced teaching conditions and normative management system.

Organizations of education department include Party branch, professor committee, the executive committee, teaching and research section of physical education curriculum, office, sports training and group teaching and research section, physical research laboratory and stadium equipment management section.

Physical Education Department undertakes such work l as the physical education curriculum of students of IMU, the fitness activities of teachers and students, the training of school sports teams, the competition inside and outside the school, the test of National Students’ Physical Health Standard , research work of students' physical health and so on. All faculty members who unite to forge ahead are engaged in teaching and research, and have made certain achievements in teaching, sports competitions and scientific research. Physical education curriculum, approved by the school IMU to construct for the first batch, is one of the school-level key courses for undergraduate. The curriculum was approved to be autonomous region level excellent course by Education Department of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in 2015; in recent years, the performance of school sports team has always been among the best in the autonomous region. On behalf of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, there are part of sports programs participating in national university and college competitions. All teacherson average have published more than 20 academic papers in the provincial and national sports academic journals every year and their research results have won school and autonomous region awards for many times. The teaching management research project presided over by Physical Education Department won the second prize of the outstanding teaching achievement of the autonomous region in 1993 and 1997. The scientific research project presided over by Physical Education Department won the second prize of the sixth social and scientific outstanding achievement of the autonomous region in 2000. The textbook of Mongolian version, Sports, won the second prize of the fourth philosophy and social science excellence achievement of the autonomous region. The Party branch of Physical Education Department has won the title of the autonomous-region-level advanced grassroots Party branch. There have been many staff were successively named as advanced individuals in national student physical health research and excellent physical education teachers of university in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. As a result of remarkable achievements in physical teaching work, in 2000, Inner Mongolia University was granted autonomous region and national level brilliant school in following Rules and Regulations of School Physical Education by Education Department of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the Ministry of National Education. In 2001, Physical Education Department was granted advanced unit in school physical education, health, art, national defense education work of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. In 2004, Inner Mongolia University was again awarded autonomous region level brilliant school in following Rules and Regulations of School Physical Education by Education Department of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. In 2005, Physical Education Department was granted the title of “advanced collective in undergraduate teaching work of Inner Mongolia University”.
